VA2.0 International Partners

Whatever happens with SQ, either way it's odds-on that the Velocity-Krisflyer transfer will be gone going forward.

The only slim chance of that resuming is if Bain "gets something in it for them" - e.g SQ paying VA and a devalued transfer rate.

Well thankfully due to our local insider, all
on AFF had fair warning to transfer to SQ before VA collapsed! I agree with you I think it’s unlikely to return.

I took the gamble and kept a substantial amount in VA. Hopefully some decent partnerships announced with good value redemptions. Worse case scenario is that I can pretty much fly free domestically with VA for a long time 🤣

Can’t see me flying with them ever 🤣
In the last month it’s about a 60/40 split flying VA and QF all in J and VA has been considerably better in nearly every aspect so if they stay as is I’m more than happy to keep earning and using points with them. If they go down the Bonza route then yeah I’m stuffed 🤣

Which is why VA and flybuys are not in my most used loyalty program anymore. So it would need a miracle such as VA - SQ transfers again.

Another question is whether if VFFs will accept a greatly 'devalued' transfer rate (assumedly to make it a Bain revenue stream with Krisflyer/SQ paying them rather than the other way around) if by miracle that program returns.

I reckon this is GONE. I’ll just settle for the continued ability to redeem on SQ.

Perhaps SQ should start offering a wider range of cobrand cards that earn into KrisFlyer…

With HA resuming 5x weekly SYD-HNL on December 15th I hope something is announced soon.
Weren't HA award redemptions really scarce previously with Velocity? Can't say I was a regular checker but whenever I did have a peek I cant recall much availability.

SYD was tough especially in J but I recall BNE was much easier. However IIRC you had to either book a separate award or get to BNE on your own dime.

VA don't have the concept of an integrated award like QF do where you can book multiple carriers on the same ticket number. It's always been strictly one carrier per ticket for awards...

Controversial Opinion: The Integrated Award system for VA would've been a more worthwhile investment than the 'Krisflyer-Velocity' transfer system, imo. Especially when taking the Alaska/JetBlue approach of picking airlines across all major alliances as partners.

I don't think it was too much of a problem. Most of the time you flew on a partner the whole way if international anyway.
Yeah there’s no way I’d trust VAs ersatz alliance to look after me connecting between carriers in foreign ports thank you very much.
