Has anyone flown on VA24 from LAX to MEL recently? We have booked tickets for next month but am a little confused with the departing terminal. The ticket says depart from Terminal 2 at LAX but the V Australia website says checkin at Terminal 2 but depart from TBIT due to renovations.

Checkin at T2 and stroll down to TBIT for security and boarding the plane, which is where it leaves from.

Welcome to AFF :D

Indeedy,check-in is at T2 and the flight departs from TBIT.

The actual check-in is located at the far West and of T2. allowing for a shorter walk to TBIT.

My advise is to check in and then walk to TBIT before heading down to the arrivals level and use the transit security there (at the South end of the arrivals hall) rather than the main one upstairs.

You can also go through security at T2 and catch an airside bus provided by Delta at gate 22B for TBIT, but that still leaves a longish walk from the North end of TBIT to the central area where the lounges and main shops are located.

Thanks for the tip. I'm guessing there's a shorter line at the transit security at the arrivals level compared to the one at the departure level, correct?

Another question, since we are at the basic velocity frequent flyer status is there any chance that we can pay for a one off access to any of the lounge at TBIT?

Generally the Transit Security has a shorter line - YMMV.

I believe the KAL lounge does Priority Pass; there may be time of day criteria.

Other than that, there's some nice restaurants in TBIT.
