VA909 - SYD - BNE cancalled for 29 Feb, any idea why

Been rebooked but curious why this could have been cancelled.

I had a SYD-BNE flight that evening too that was rescheduled.

Could have been an under-booked flight?

Has anyone else noticed the reduction in the price of air fares lately with VA?

Better sales than this time last year as well as many more reduced flights.

Maybe it's just my frequent routes BNE-SYD & BNE-MEL.

But you can find a BNE-SYD flight for $95 the day you want to fly out.

Edit: After the maintenance this morning, most of the fares seem to have been adjusted back to what the were

Both QF and VA do this all the time with SYD routes when a flight is underbooked. It's pretty common in the morning peak when flights are 15 mins apart. Very frustrating when you get rebooked into a middle seat, or they can't get you there in time for your first meeting.

I agree. I couldnt make it to my meeting with the reschedule. Had two choices, fly early or sleep and i chose the latter

It's really frustrating but I get why they do it.

I was booked on a flight to OOL in May first thing in the morning, it looks like it's been cancelled and I've been put on the later flight which is about 3 hours too late.

Haven't received a call or email from VA yet so maybe it means they could re-instate it? Seems weird to cancel it so far out.

Really frustrating because it means I will have to fly up night before instead.
