BKK-SIN-BKK business flex (D class) airfare on Finnair. Airfare is ~A$403(12,085 baht) earning 120 SC's at A$3.36/SC. Finnair flies BKK-SIN-BKK on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Times vary depending on season. In April depart BKK 14:40 arrive SIN 18:15 and returning depart SIN 21:50 arrive BKK 23:10. This flight then continues on to HEL non stop.

Please note used exchange rate of 29.98Baht/A$1.

It always depresses me to see how much cheaper SIN-PER-SIN is against PER-SIN-PER.

Try looking at BA for BKK-SYD-BKK. That will depress you further!

Mal during his research for his RTW in March has found this amazing deal.

LHR-MAD-LIS (return) using Iberia - Just under $AU300 for 100 SC's. Something people might keep in mind if in London. Although from what I've read, flying on Iberia can be a real experience!

If you check out BA forum on FT there are better 4-flight runs involving IB with cheap BA fares.

In the US you can also do better with multi-segment runs on AA (particularly if you can find cheap F).

You have to search very hard to find these. Don't you also need expert flyer which also requires a monthly subscription. The number of people with ready access to these fares would be very small.

The fares I found on finnair BKK-SIN-BKK or BKK-HKG-BKK are regular business flex fares available at the same price all year round and come in handy if you are in BKK as the flight turnaround is only around 8 hours giving you a few hours in SIN or HKG to look around or spend it in the AY lounge drinking your sorrows away.

I would be very interested in cheap F fares on AA internally... Any hints?? I am primarily looking at Anchorage - Chicago - New York.

The AA fares - there are 2 particularly useful types. One is A fare class - discounted first; the other is YUP which books into F (note this is a loophole and may be closed although it hasnt been yet).

They are fairly easy to find - no need for expert flyer unless you really want to max them out. The Mileage Run forum on FT has some tips (look for AA specials and see the creative routings people post).

I would look for main centre -> main centre where neither is an AA hub, and ideally opposite sides of US. Watch out for places/routes only served by 1-class aircraft.

If using www.aa.com, you want to search by fare type - fully flexible economy will find any YUPs and helpfully show which sectors will book into first. Or discounted first for A. Sometimes one is cheaper than the other, so pays to check both.

Unfortunately there is no great value $/SC in domestic fares.

The one that readily springs to mind is the SYD-CBR business class at $6.95/SC.

For normal red e-deals unless there are heavily discounted specials, where you need to book months in advance, the best you can do right now is $7.3/SC. I have some routings from Perth which should be available most of the time. If you ever need them let me know and I will pass them on to you.

I know there are some good value fares in the US if you look hard for them but no good to people that do not travel there.

Personally the 2 finnair business class deals, BKK-HKG or BKK-SIN, suit me right down to the ground as they are available all year round. Next trip to BKK in April I will book two return evening trips to HKG which will give me 240 SC's at $3.72/SC. Once completed this should take me to QFF gold. Wow QFF gold. Who would have thought. And lounge access for a year. Even better. That way I don't have to slum it in the terminal for 2 hours. I go to Thailand twice a year so doing a few of these side trips will help me maintain QFF gold.

As I've posted before there is a certain Australian SCRUN that will earn you SC's at just over $6/SC. It is extremely tricky to find for the casual SCRUN'er as it uses certain loopholes I would prefer not to be closed. Hence why I don't shout out the details of it.

That is the cheapest I have found and I will be using it later this year a couple of times.

SCRUNs have been ruined by the Fuel surcharges. Most of the time domestic flights are around $10/Sc. Absolutely pathetic.

Presently sitting in CX HKG first class lounge having just arrived on AY91 from BKK.

Sat in row 1 which has plenty of space.

Great service and selection of wines.

Seat similar to Skybed. Advertised as lie flat in the plane's inflight brochures but even the photo clearly shows it on a slope.

Agree. Even most of the sale fares provide poor value SC run, unless you already needed to fly.

There have been good deals for SC earning trans-tasman where QF matches an NZ sale between destinations not served nonstop (by QF).
