Velocity and Elevate (Virgin America) reciprocity

If wanting to differentiate as you have suggested, then perhaps operating with a name like V Australia (domestic) would be an option?

Maybe V Australia right across the board would be better for all, and alleviate the "Virgin" problems that arise for them outside Aus, hopefully John B will sort out a one name Airline for them when he takes over.................

Cheers Dee

Seems like it's interesting times ahead for Virgin Blue.

Indeed. From all I have read, John B has a good feel for what needs to be offered to make folk willing to pay a premium for a product. It will be interesting to see where Virgin Blue heads under his leadership.

Agreed, VA branding for all short-haul ops would be nice. VA livery on the 737's would look great!

Hopefully he can look into trip reports on other forums where folk say the lines at check-in took 1.5 to 3 hours.

We have indeed looked at the specific option you suggested (amongst quite a few others). I would expect to see some statement of future direction from John Borghetti fairly soon after he joins us next month. So I wouldn't rule anything in or out at this stage.

cheers

Very odd for me to be chiming in on a "Virgin" Thread. But I have to say this is good news.

I have never set foot on a virgin plane and at this stage do not have any intention to do so, I fly almost exclusively One World. But I do enjoy competition and I also think Qantas has had it to good for to long and there needs to be a shake up in the Full service side of things in Australia. Especially on the ex-PER routes. If you want J service (and I always do) there has been no choice. And from reports of friends and family PE on DJ just doesn't compare. I dream of someone to challenge QF in the pointy end of the pain trans-continent!

I am at the point that if a *A carrier was in Australia and offered status matches for QF members. I would jump ship! I just need the recognition in Asia and the USA that OW give me.

Can I combine my velocity with my elevate membership?

No. We have looked at options such as being able to transfer points between programs to allow consolidation but it got a bit hard for the bean counters on both sides - it may be revisited at some time but don't hold your breath. We have also looked at having a single global Virgin branded frequent flyer program but that is not imminent either.

What about transferring points between family members. QF has a (IMO) ridiculous 1 points transfer; between a family member/relo, per year rule in place. I think that SQ has up to 5 per year?? Will DJ change this? (actually, l don't even know what rule DJ have in place at present:oops:). Does it really matter about family transfers and putting a cap/limit on transfers, don't the airline want you to use up your points??

What about transferring points between family members.

from the Velocity website:

You are eligible to make four transfers per year which are easy and free to do online (a $20 fee applies if you transfer through the Membership Contact Centre). Simply log in to Your Account and click on the ‘Points Transfer’ button on the left hand side of your screen. Then, simply ensure your transfer is to an eligible family member and is a minimum of 5,000 Points, but no more than 100,000 Points

Velocity - You can now transfer Points to family members

I never knew that was there

May I, however, offer a suggestion on the linked page. The link to "Find more details on who's an eligible family member', is actually a link to do a search:

The first four results are just various forms of the same search
The fifth takes you back to the page you just came from
The sixth is actually useful in taking you to the FAQ.

Couldn't you just link straight from the page to the FAQ, and skip the silly search thing in the middle?

Thanks for the swift reply Dave.

I also agree with oz_mark. Maybe DJ needs a little bit of an overhaul of it's website.

I just did;

SYD-FRA = redirection to V Australia (pop-ups and redirection)
SYD-Nuku'Alofa = website goes into Pacific blue mode.
SYD-AHU = stays the same (Pacific Blue mode and there where no flights available in April 9-15?) I had to go back to the homepage and start again, where l got taken to V Australia site and then dates became available.

I don't know, but having so many Virgin Brands might be causing a little bit of trouble in trying to streamline the Virgin Blue website, due to all the different Virgin ownerships??? Dave?

Thanks oz-mark, I didn't know where to find it either so just entered "transfer points family" in the search box at the top right of Velocity home page. But point taken that the link "Find more details on who's an eligible family member" should take you straight to an answer rather than do a search and will take it up with business owner.

The redirections for SYD-FRA and SYD-TBU did exactly what they are supposed to, although I appreciate that this redirecting to different sites can cause confusion. But as long as we have different brands operating different markets we have to do this redirection so that we can offer a single point for searching and at the same time meet our brand licensing obligations.

AHU is Al Hoceima, Morocco, which may have confused the search engine as we don't sell tickets for that destination. AUH is of course Abu Dhabi so search engine was correct to redirect to V Australia.

All I can say here is "watch this space" sorry - the various brands is an issue that we are working on.

Once again, thanks for the swift reply Dave :) Red Roo could certainly take some pointers from you guys over a Virgin. Maybe you could even tell them what "Dialogue" means (Dialogue is a literary and theatrical form consisting of a written or spoken conversational exchange between two or more people.):lol::lol:

Yes, l did mean AUH in the above example, sorry.
More great news coming from the DJ camp. Can't wait.

Thanks CrazyDave...kind of thought that would be the answer!
