Ok just to follow up with the end result
After another long phone call everything seems to be sorted out
Tots cost was $309 AUD and Wendy have fare class L which has been confirmed as being OK for earning points and status.
I was able to just pay the extra with no need to change anything about the flights so the first long phone call I obviously got someone who didn’t know what they were doing. Last person was wonderful and sorted it all out.
