Velocity first class

I’ve got around 700k to use and noticed there is First reward seats offered under Etihad but can’t find any,has anyone ever seen a date on any route or is it just a mirage.
Have seen the occasional business seat but would love to fly 1st as I’d never pay it.

Yes they do exist:

First rewards are available on Etihad and Singapore airlines however availability is limited. It also is not helped by the fact that post covid both Etihad and Singapore airlines are operating less aircraft with first class cabins meaning the routes they offer first class on are limited.

You're going to really struggle to find any first class rewards from Australia to Asia/Middle East so instead look from Asia/Middle East to Europe.

Henrus is right. Etihad took all of their A380's out of service so they barely have any first class routes anymore. I think there are none into Australia. There are a few 787's with first class still operating but they are on limited routes like Geneva.

Personally I wouldn’t bother with First class on an Etihad 777, the A380 was where it was at. Done both a few times and wouldn’t stump up the points for a 777 EY F again.

Agreed. The F&B is a step up, but the comfort and overall experience isn't much better than J on a newer plane.

In addition to suggestion from other members , I would suggest you call Velocity customer care as they seem to have a good handle on finding the available reward seats which were not visible when checking online. Owing to the wait times , it helps if you are a VFF gold/platinum so you get priority in queue while waiting on hold.

There might be availability in Qatar First once Velocity opens up to Qatar? And for as long as they're serving SYD with the A380, that route will have First. (I don't know how available it is for redemptions, though.)

As far as I'm aware, the only routes Etihad is currently offering First Class on are: AUH-GVA, AUH-CMN, AUH-LHR and AUH-IAD.

Singapore Airlines First Class is not currently available to book using Velocity points, but that should change soon.
