Velocity Frequent Flyer launches partnership with DiDi

Velocity still exists?

The hyperbolic portrayal by the AFR of Australians seemingly abandoning QFF for Velocity, including the language used in the OP article, only says a lot about their unpatriotic and cheap journalism with a clear agenda against Qantas and other Australian-owned businesses while propping up the interests of foreign corporations in Australia. Shame on them.

I expect this new DiDi partnership to last less than a year - there is no substitute to Uber. Will be surprised if more than 1% of VA’s active Velocity users actually use this service. Who even knew of DiDi before?

QFF was, is and always will be not only Australia’s dominant FF program, but also Australia’s second currency.

You know, just because you don't like anything not QFF doesn't mean you need to poke your head in to spaces for other airlines.

You could just completely ignore this subforum instead.

Yep, very tiresome.
There would be plenty of people in Australia who are in both frequent flyer programs and the more partners available to either the better.

That last bit sounds a bit like a, what was it, oh yeah, hyperbolic portrayal.

And? Not sure what the point of that is.

Just because something is biggest doesn't mean everyone else should just shut up shop. In fact, it's only due to competition that you get a better deal, as that's the main form of pressure when you have one business dominating. Based on your claim, obviously you think only Woolworths should exist, only Bunnings should exist, you only use Telstra, and only CBA should exist and the list goes on.

That's fine if your sole criteria to make a purchase is only buying from the largest business. Many customers seeking better service or pricing prefer to use competitors.

Seperate login details to your VABF account and personal VFF.

Try “Forget password” or similar on VA BF account.

You want to know something more wild? The DiDi app doesn't work in China even though DiDi is by far the dominant player. Tells you you're in the wrong region when you try to access it in China.

It all functions off mini-apps in Alipay and WeChat.
There is a completely different Didi app for China. (android play store)

I bet if Qatar was to buy a 20% stake into Velocity, you would be first to complain on the forum :)

Yes. After I linked my Velocity account, the screen in the Velocity Points area showed it was successful for 1000 points. It also provided a link for the Virgin Australian Business Flyer account.

I clicked on the Link Now option. Added in my name and ABN, and it all went through ok. Another 1000 points to play with.

4k VFF points for me. Setup an account for myself and other family members who each pool to my VFF account.

I hadn't actually setup a VFF Business account as yet. I had an ABN which was cancelled (as I hadn't used it in a while) just a month ago. I went to re-activate it but it didn't activate straight away, so will have to wait. When it does come through, I'll get the 2k VFF points from VFF for opening the business account, then when I do the Didi promotion, another 1k enabling me to get to 3k to transfer to my personal account. :)

Indeed. If people don't support Didi/Taxis, the monopolising company will just become more scummy. I think Uber revenue is 8x or so of Didi in Australia and you can already see the outcomes.

Going slightly OT, but uber was also the reason the taxi monopoly got broken up in the early days.

So I signed up with both my normal account and my business flyer account and as others reported the points were awarded promptly.
Got around to using Didi today from Sofitel Melbourne to the airport and Uber wanted $57, Didi was $39 and offered me a bonus $10 off (perhaps as it was my first time using them) Driver arrived within 2 minutes and was a great lad in a nice, clean Camry. He drives for both Didi and Uber and prefers driving for Didi. Was really happy with the service and tipped him $5 and left a nice thank you on the app. Was dropped off at the rideshare spot near the Parkroyal as we were picking up a rental car from Sixt. Checked my Virgin app a few minutes later and points had already been credited. Got the full 39 points
For me it’s a horses for courses setup where sometimes Didi won’t work or be the best option but for others it will be and I’ll definitely use them again
