Velocity lounge access while flying Air NZ to NZ?

Hi all, I stumbled upon this while Googling various things, and seems this is something I've been looking for!

I'm a Silver Velocity member, as well as Virgin Lounge member. I'll be flying to Queenstown later in the year from Melbourne with Air NZ, and since I'm not a Koru member or flying with Virgin, would I be able to use the Koru lounge at T2 while waiting for my flight, or is my Virgin Lounge (and partner) access only valid when I travel with VA?

It's a bit of a weird one, but I'd love to know beforehand.

EDIT: I should also clarify, the flight I'm on is codeshare Air NZ/VA, but my ticket issuer is Air NZ

To answer your question. The way I read the VA international lounge access page is that your flight will have to be on a VA code for you to be able to access the NZ lounge in MEL. Whether NZ enforce that or not, I don't know.

Virgin Lounge members just need to be travelling on a VA or NZ flight:

The website also says this for VA lounge members:

But if you dig through the Terms and Conditions it does say

a) Reciprocal access to selected Air New Zealand Lounges in Australia and New Zealand is available to Members travelling on trans-Tasman flights (to or from New Zealand) on Virgin Australia, Virgin Australia (NZ), Virgin Australia (SE Asia) and Air New Zealand marketed and operated flights and within New Zealand on Air New Zealand flights. Air New Zealand lounge locations available to Members are published on the Virgin Australia Website.

So it appears that members get access.

Yeah, that's what confused me, there are too many conditions, but I guess the T&Cs are the main ones.

EY members only get access to domestic lounges.

:shock: oh well... will have to do without a lounge this one time.. NZ won't allow me to use *G from TK because I'm not travelling *A

Am I correct that I dont need my Velocity number in my Air NZ flight booking (NZ flight number) trans tasmin and can just show my Velocity Platinum card to get lounge access in SYD and AKL, I want to credit the flight to another *A airline.

Just be sure that your fare class actually credits to the other program. NZ can be a little stingy.
