Mine were credited today, however only one lot of 15,000 (even though I have the Visa and Amex). Did anyone manage to get 30,000 points?

My plan is that once I see the miles deposited to my Velocity account I'll be onto the NAB and tell them to cancel the card forthwith.

I just checked my account and they only gave me the 5,000 points

That's it, I'm picking up the phone to the NAB and kill the card for sure now

cssaus - let us know whether they give you any sweetener to stay.

:)

I'll be open to any offers that they may care to make. My credit card requirements are well and truly taken care of at the moment with my Platinum AMEX credit card so I really don't need their card.

Got mine, good bonus will cancel the card soon. Can't believe
you don't even get bonus points when purchasing Virgin Flights :(

07/03/2006 Velocity Credit Card Launch 15k Bonus 0 15,000 15,000

Got 30K for the cards (AMEX and Visa). very happy :)

Date Description Base Points Bonus Points Total
07 Mar 2006 Velocity Credit Card Launch 15k Bonus 0 30,000 30,000
07 Mar 2006 Velocity - Smart Trans Acct 2K Bonus 0 2,000 2,000

Yes, I actually bothered to open the smart transaction account for that 2K points.

So 32K points for virtually no cash outlay. I like that :) That is almost a ticket to NZ on Emirates from Sydney ...... Actually, I am aiming for SYD-HKG on VS (55K required).

Hmm... I currently have the Velocity Visa. Do any of you know if I'll get an extra 15k points if I applied for the Velocity AMEX, and got approved?

I think the conditions attached to the new 15K offer has changed. The two main changes I can see are:

1. 15K per customer only
2. Must use card at least once.

Yeah.. the post above my last was the reason I asked.

However, presumably, he applied for both at the same time in Dec, while I applied for my Visa in Dec, and might apply for the Amex in March... so, his 30k prompted my question... and I was just wondering if anyone thought my situation would be different.

Also, I haven't been spending much on the Velocity Visa - I wonder if they'll approve the Amex!

Oops... I guess Kyle answered my question - I won't bother applying for the Amex then.

:)

30,000 points were deposited for into my Velocity account on 7 March. I had applied for the Visa under the 5k offer, then called up and asked to be switched to 15k. Then applied for the Amex with the 15k offer.

So despite the problems some have had, it does look like some of the call reps did switch people over

Amazing they could give you 30K even though technically they could have just give u 20k. Looks like they are bending over backwards to get customers , which I guess it is a good thing for all of us.

I will keep both cards for now ...... since they did give me 30K for the 2 cards .... 30K is actually quite a lot for just fill up some forms and use their cards ....

Will cancel my Gold ANZ Qantas on Monday .... Hideous annual fee due soon ......

Hey Johan

I had a look at the terms and conditions again re max 15K points per customer. I guess we could interpret that as meaning 15K points per customer for the "new" offer. That means people applying for this new offer cannot apply for both and get 30K points. Worth a shot getting a 2nd card this time around?

Hey... Good idea. No harm I guess.

I just wonder if they'll approve the new card, as I have been making minimal purchases on the Velocity card I have (only at merchants that don't take Amex), and I have been a transactor, paying off my bills in full each month.

Also, I've had a few card application in the past few months... oh well, at least they know that I'm not a huge credit risk based on their experiences with my Velocity card.

I'll just have a look at the application again and see how onerous the application process is.

Thanks, Kyle.

Last time I got the Amex. Thinking of getting the Visa with min $500 limit if I can get another 15K points.

Got the Visa! Now waiting for the points to come thru after 29 June.

Rang NAB today to cancel the card after I received the 15,000 points.
Lady on the other end asked why I was cancelling and my reply was
you don't get many points using the card. She offered a bonus 5,000 points if I kept the card. I didn't take up the offer.
