Hey everyone, sorry if this has been asked before, and I'm not sure if it's been explicitly written anywhere with the new changes.

From the 1st October, the amount of status you earn with partner airlines changes, as does the requirement to have 50% of your status from flights operated with VA flight number.

To maintain platinum you need 800 status credits. Let's say on the 30th September you have 700 status, all earnt with a partner airline. From the 1st October, will you need 100 more status, of which 50 would need to be with VA, or would you need 800 - 700/2 = 450 more status credits earnt with VA?

This is essentially the scenario I'll be in, so I'll be tempted to do a few short domestic trips before the 1st October so that I'll have already renewed platinum before the 50% rule comes in.

Cheers

Whoops, I think I confused myself in the second scenario. You can get a max of 400 from partners, so my maths is irrelevant. The question should be would I need 100 more credits (of which 50 from VA), or 400 operated entirely by VA
