Velocity plat on EY = win, win, win! (F lounge access for VA plats on EY!)

I do like the look of the lounge. Very nice. :)

EY seem to manage to pull off a certain restrained opulence without going overboard on the bling factor in their lounge product, rather unlike their cousin airline 50ish kilometres north. Their lounge at DUB is much smaller but also in the same style; apparently the lounge at LHR is also quite good.

Ok, so time for an update. Back in AUH after a flight sitting near a screaming baby - not anyone's fault, but hasn't got me in the best of moods. I front up to the lounge to be advised that I'm unwelcome, and I should go to the Al Reem lounge in T1. Seriously Virgin, what the heck? I appreciate F Lounge benefits were never official, but it seems awfully strange to be "enhancing" things at such an early stage ... I'd send an e-mail, but the rubbish wifi here doesn't allow me to access my e-mail.

Not best pleased at the moment. :(

:( whaaaa.... But i thought Etihad allowed single Velocity Platinum FF to access the Pearl lounge? that was the experience of AFF member 777, he (i assume) got access to the Pearl Lounge with his Plat card.

Also Al Reem is at T1 and VA flights depart from T3, was it a long treck? and yeah AUH wifi is absolutely hopeless, i dont know if they filter it or something but it was soooo slow in my experience, slower than 28k dial up internet.

The benefit has never been published anywhere so it hasn't actually been withdrawn. What you are getting is as advertised on the web site (and what i got on my outbound leg) and perhaps allowing myself and others in was actually a mistake in the changeover? It would be a shame as I was looking forward to another f lounge trip.

As platinum memberships go, you usually get access to the First Lounge of the airline/partner airline e.g. Qantas - I think Virgin would be trying to implement this, or should be trying to implement this as a written benefit - they need to be on par with the competition.

Star Alliance do not provide F lounge access to their top tier.

It does make the F lounges more exclusive though ;)

Etihad Gold Elite which is their Platinum equivalent get FLounge access for one?

I've never being inside an F lounge lolB ut i have read reviews on some of them and it sounds amazing, i.e free massages! cool....

but im happy with a business lounge that has showers, comfortable seats, etc... although the singapore airlines gold krisflyer lounge doesnt have toilets or showers. but their silver kris lounge does.

According to point 5 at Etihad Guest Gold Elite

5. Accompanying guest should be traveling on Etihad Airways.

so EY Gold Elite get a +1.

I have a First Class return booking SYD-CAI, however due to low demand AUH-CAI-AUH is in J as they are reducing the operating aircraft to 2 class (despite paying the equivalent of a first class fare). According to EY's email response, despite arriving in F, I can only access the J Lounge on the way out. Questions relating to Velocity Platinum access have been unanswered.

Hi there

I am flying EY 18 on Jan 18 LHR-AUH-SYD in J as a Platinum Velocity. Am just wondering what I might expect in terms of lounge access at both LHR and AUH. I haven't been to AUH before and not flown from LHR in EY.

Thanks

Quark

If you fly J class, you'll be entitled to use the Pearl business lounge, but perhaps you might be able to to use F lounge if you are VFF Plat. Depends on the staff that day.
