Was organising a PE upgrade tonight and when completed (thank you new Gold Centre) I had asked when was Platinum coming?
The resonse back was that they are not allowed to coment but was told to make sure my email address is up to dat as a "Major" announcement is being made on 22nd August. She also commented that I had a lot of SC (1085) and that I would be very happy with what is coming!
I'm so excited! feel like a kid on Christmas eve

I rang today and couldn't get anything except that they were not allowed to comment.

Good news is I have over 1000 SC's and am travelling on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th - maybe I will get a new experience!!!

Me too, i had been asking everyone. finally got a really helpful lady in the new Gold Centre (which is an excellent call centre)
I must say I am really happy with the improvements VA have made

Sorry to break the news and spoil the fun, but our agent got it wrong. Yes we are doing some work on the weekend of the 20/21st August in preparing our systems for a change but this doesn't relate to our launch of Platinum - that's coming later in the year.

If this is true, I'm amused that VA will (hopefully) be making really positive announcements and big improvements to the Velocity program and giving the Australian travelling public a really viable alternative... and then 2 days later QF will be the bearers of doom and gloom with their unsustainable international operations and how terrible the market is and how they can't possibly compete without off-shoring jobs and pushing all their valuable customers to Jetw*nk.

Interesting times ahead... (including a shiny new platinum card for me I hope!)

Maybe we are being bamboozled by VA's PR team to keep us hanging in anticipation! Well I guess we will all find out come the 22nd

I would imagine such announcements are commercially sensitive, we need to keep in mind that share price sensitive information needs to be released in the correct manner, this may at times tie the hands of reps and other staff members who participate on this board when they would very much like to be sharing the info. When info can be released, I am please to report we are often the first non official channel to hear about it!

Just checked my SC balance.......523 so I'm one of the top dogs........even if only for a short duration!

Virgin Australia are pretty good with their selective dissemination of information, but there are cracks, you just need to know where they are.

Flight attendants are pretty good sources, don't wait for the lav to be available, head back or front whilst the loo's are occupied and chat to the FA's, they are more forthcoming with info if you chat with them whilst standing for some reason, dunno why but it seems to work. maybe it's a one on one thing.
