My first post so please be kind. My terminology may be out but hopefully you will be able to understand...

Query - I flew Delta Melbourne via Sydney to New York return in Nov/Dec. Joined Delta SkyMiles so I could access lounge in LAX as had 8 hrs between flights. Did not link boarding passes / tickets to SkyMiles account as I intended to seek Velocity miles as they are more usable for me. I have sent off copies of eticket to Velocity and am awaiting the outcome of their processes.

However, today I get a statement from Delta SkyMiles showing 9,000 odd miles for flights from JFK to LAX and on to Sydney. I am presuming this will mean I cannot now claim these miles from Velocity. I have fired off a polite but strongly worded email to Delta and expect to hear nothing in response. Any advice??

Thanks

Nicola

Welcome to AFF! (although I see you’ve been here a bit)

It is possible to get miles reversed, but the ball will be solely in Delta’s court, and they can be as slow or fast as they like in that regard.

I would guess when you went into the lounge the staff automatically added the number to your booking, as it wasn’t on it ;)

Thanks at least there is some hope - I specifically asked them NOT to add the skymiles membership but hey who I am to tell them what to do.

Off Topic but curious: Why did you need to join skymiles to access the lounge? I didn't think you needed skymiles account to buy a one day pass

My recollection is that I was travelling with my daughter and wanted both of us to access it at both JFK and LAX. I think (don't quote me) that it cost less to buy a month pass for me than four one day passes. Also gave us an option to use the lounge on additional days without charge if flights were cancelled, rescheduled etc. I thik you have to join skymiles to buy a month pass.

The good news - Delta fixed the issue very quickly, and Virgin Blue has credited the points to our accounts. Well done to both those team. I am a happy customer.
