Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

Does Velocity get access to SQ's North American routes? I've been looking at J rewards space to the US (specifically SIN-JFK/EWR on the 359URL) and found some pretty decent rewards space on SQ (Saver/I Class). The spaces is availabel on both SQ's own website and Aeroplan but doesn't seem available on VA.

I know SQ does this to partners but I've always though VA is like NH/AC/AS where SQ opens some long-haul J rewards space. Doesn't seem like the case from my current search though. Not a big deal to cop the 1.55x exchange rate and transfer to SQ and book but would like to just get some clarity on what's available to VA and what's not.
I've noticed this as well for some of their other routes. I feel like SQ used to be more generous with reward seats to VV.

Personally I think inconsistent is the best way to describe it. I have managed to book sfo-sin in pe via vff, which wasn't showing in krisflyer. That's on the 359ulr without Y seats 🤷‍♂️

I have seen a lot of PE flights for range of routes on VV, definitely agree with the availability being inconsistent

I'm looking at booking a MEL-SIN-SEA/LAX/SFO or NYC-SIN-MEL J seat in 2025 soon-ish and while there's plenty of PE availability, there's been no J, nor any for other North American destinations. I therefore strongly suspect that SQ may be holding back J awards between North America and SIN from Velocity. (Mind you availability on Aeroplan and other *A is also scarce.)

SQ J availability vanishes ever so quickly with KrisFlyer so I guess there would be nothing left for Velocity.

There is plenty of SQ J available on Velocity. But it also seems to be the case that SIN-US routes do not show up nearly as much as they once did.

I have never yet found a J route on Velocity that is remotely useful to me, not with SQ nor with any other airline. For example, I’d love to fly in J to Moscow on Saturday week. Any sensible route is blank for a fortnight before and after my preferred travel date - as it has been for ever. Instead I’m flying revenue MU in Y (pray for me).

I've found plenty of availability between Australia and Europe. Just need a little bit of flexibility.

An ultra premium in demand route (for the airlines still flying there) and you're wondering why it's hard to get J award seats with 9 days notice?

I think expectations need to be managed here.

That's too bad. I really do prefer SQ (or QR/EY/NH even for that matter) when going to the US East Coast (namely New York) over via SFO/LAX. The 2 West Coast hub are just way too busy and connecting onto a domesitc flight means there's no nice duty-free / lounge option to kill time.

I have been looking since almost a year ago. When there’s nothing released at a year old the VA fanboys say they are released nearer the date of the flight. Then when they aren’t, people say get them earlier. Had similar with flights to Miami - I got a convoluted route with OW a year out. I have been checking daily for VA redemptions and nada.

Oh, and it’s not the service to Moscow that’s the problem - it’s getting to the Middle East to pick up the connection.

I never have any luck getting SQ flights to/from Australia closer in. I can usually get from ADL-SIN fairly easy if I book far out. I was searching for some SQ seats back to Australia for ages and literally zero availability for months so I’m going to get home another way.

Yeah. It's unfortunate. Even on days where Krisflyer is showing Saver availability on North American routes and it's less than 330 days, only PE is available...

May have been discussed in this thread already, but there is a massive reduction in SQ availability - used to be seats on almost all flights SYD-SIN in J (ie on each of the 4 flights), but now it looks like only on 1 flight.

Same can be said for QR - can't see any J availability on any seats out of Australia (only economy)

Both SQ and QR’s own FFP haven’t got much availability currently so I’d suggest they aren’t releasing much.
