Velocity review date mechanism

No - your review period remains the same - and you have requalified for Plat for next year.

In Jan, when you are reviewed, you will get another year of Plat.

As I understand it the only time your review period will change is when you go up a level as you get 12 months from that date.

example - you qualify for Plat (the 1st time) on the 22nd Jan - your new review date is now 22nd Jan - and you have a year from that date to requalify - but requalifying does NOT change your review date - it adds a year from the review date...

Thanks :) . So it works just the same as Qantas? My QFF review date is end of Feb; I can requal any point in the ensuing 12 months and if I do, the status is given for another year from end of Feb.

I think I've been confused by this Points Hacks article, where they are talking about moving between status levels and its a 'rolling' assessment and re-setting of 12 month periods. Maintain, as you say, seems to be a fixed date and they do say that in the second bit.

Review date: 7 October 2023
Current status: WP
SCs for renewal: 1400

Status still showing as "under review." Not particularly the end of the world but annoying as I'd like to book an upcoming work trip and then use refreshed upgrade certificates and don't want to book until I know I can then secure those right away.

Called Velocity today and was told this will only happen 14 days after the review date stated online. Definitely felt like a "computer says no" "enhancement" that I have to sit and wait another week for the update when I've obviously re-qualified.

Whatever.

Can anyone tell me, if my status review date is 28 Feb, will my lounge access cease immediately if I don't have enough status credits for the status renewal? Or will I still be able to access the lounge on 2 Mar when I make a trip.

It depends on what your card (digital) says in the app. Usually access is to the end of the following month.

Thank you. I wasn't aware that the digital card listed this information and in my case it's 2 weeks later on 13 March

Your lounge access will be valid the expiry date given on your velocity card or digital velocity card in your app.
Interestingly, the app indicates my expiry date is 14 days after the review date. My card shows the review date as being the same as the app's expiry date with "Card valid for one month after review date".

In my case , the review date is 28th Feb however the expiry date is 13th Mar ( 2 weeks after the review date).

That is what my app shows as well. My card show as described with "Review Date" being March 13th along with with the one month validity sentence on the back.

Hope I can put this clearly as I do find this rolling SC system confusing.
I am in review now with only 358 SCs so I will drop back to Silver.
I believe that my SC balance will stay the same as none “drop off” now until November. I will now need 500 credits to regain Gold but with some 250 booked in September, I calculate I will get back to Gold as 358 + 250 = 608. Have I got this right?

I don’t think that’s right I think you’ll have to earn the 500 SCs in the 12 months commencing on the day after your review date.

Do you have the Velocity app? That provides a good summary of how many SCs and sectors you need, and you've accounted for your existing earn to expire...

Yes I do. Thanks. Status says I am in review. Next circle says 358SC to platinum. So when I come out of review I will still have 358 but need another 500 to reach Gold again?
Never quite got my head around this since I started with a status match 3 years ago from Qantas. Had to earn a certain number of credits within 3 months which I did but was then dropped to silver in error. It was resolved and everything continued smoothly until this year I didn’t notice my review date changed from September to August.
All will be revealed on 19 August and I will pay more attention to the next review date.

It doesn't work like this for going up a level. To go up from Silver to Gold you need to earn 500SC in a 12 month period.
So, reatining silver will start from the review date, but reacquiring Goild will be on the 12 month total

I think you'll need 142 to reach Gold based on this so depending on your travel dates and time of review it might be granted during the trip (given you said up thread that you'll be earning 250 for the trip).

Yep, that sounds logical on the rolling 12 month time frame. And the fixed 12 month time frame would be for silver status review.

Yes that is what I thought initially. Basically I have to earn an additional 100 on top of the 42 I would have needed if I had managed to maintain. It should happen after the second leg of the September trip. And I will have a new review date in September when that happens. Phew! Thanks again for the clarification.

Presumably you have the 4x sectors covered also?

I can also confirm that going back up a level or two is based on that rolling tally. I dropped to nothin Red just after my review date but with a modest tally of Flybuys SCs, and two flights during the TSC promo, I was quickly back to Silver and then up to Gold the next day after two more flights.
