Velocity Status Levels

I requali'd platinum in less than 6 months and am now in the position where any SC's I earn for the next 6 months are wasted - something definitely needs to be done to encourage me to continue flying with Virgin for the next 6 months vs. a competitor where i can put use/value to the SC's

Qualifying to plat on VA within a few months, then switching to QF for the balanace of the year is an option to keep QF active and see how far up you go.
Partner gold etc is of no use. When MrsW travels, it is with me in any case.

Here is another possible adjustment. Reset partner offers on requalify. Currently, when you requalify the used offers are not reusable and the benefits are expired. However, if you drop to Gold and then requalify you get them back. The net effect being if you are more loyal you get less not more.

An Accor Platinum offer would be good too. Should be easy enough to offer since they give it away so much anyway.

In addition now that IHG Priority Club have introduced a Platinum level, will Platinum members be eligible for this instead of the current Gold offer which is the same for Gold and Platinum VA status levels ? If so will it be reset so those who have taken advantage of the Gold level can reapply for the new level ?
I first achieved platinum in January 2012 and applied for the IHG offer around April 2012, and I received IHG platinum.

VFF website says VFF Gold get IHG Gold and VFF Platinum get IHG platinum.

Que? I've been platinum in Priority Club for years and years, so it's hardly something newly introduced

Perhaps the issue with the first paragraph is they may only have an agreement to issue a particular offer once!

That's interesting. I have been VA Platinum since the beginning and got IHG Gold, even though the offer most likely said Platinum from what you guys have said. To add to the confusion last weeks 'exiting changes are coming' message from IHG showed Platinum and not reading it in full I though it was announcing a new level. Will crawl out from under my rock now.

I have finally been able to look at the details in my VA account, wouldn't load for the last hour, and it is IHG Platinum. So, I will take a screen shot and get IHG to fix it. Thanks to both of you for the heads up.

Stands to reason that there may be an agreement to offer a particular offer once, but the fact remains if you fly less and fluctuate between gold and platinum it is reoffered.

The Krisflyer lounge at Changi seems to be the lounge you have when you're not having a lounge.

Guess I'm still just rooting for VA to hurry up and join an alliance ;)

For what it's worth, that same KrisFlyer Gold lounge is what other Star Alliance Gold cardholders get to use when flying on SQ - so if VA were to join Star Alliance, it wouldn't improve things for you there at all. ;)

Ha! Guess not. I thought there was a Thai lounge too, but now that I think about it I think that's sans-shower as well. TBH in Changi it's not such an issue, as it's only ~6hrs and the airport itself is quite good (and if the layover is long you can get into town). I've also used the SGD$13 pool quite often on the way back home and been pretty happy.

I'm actually more annoyed that VA status means diddly squat at the other end of flights from Singapore. I'm flying SQ to CDG, BLR, NRT and MUC (as well as LHR next week, the only place I'll actually get access) at some stage in 2013/4 and the 'special' SQ/VA partnership offers sweet FA as they use *A partner lounges there. What use is partner status then?

Well ... this isn't a helpful answer, but VA's preferred partner to Europe is EY, and I'm reasonably sure you get access to partner lounges with EY - so MUC, CDG and LHR would all be covered.

I like the idea of extra benefits once requal to Plat has happened. Mrs F is now at 2100scs 3.5 months into her year. I am at 1900 9 months in. Mrsf is looking at close to 6000 SCs this year. The ability for international upgrade credits would be one nice thing. I am thinking of switching her to the Etihad programme as she is flying with them quite a bit now in J and would be nice to upgrade her to F once in a while.
