Kevin can you buy some additional VA points under their top-up offer? Might be worthwhile if no other options.

After transferring the pissy 5,000 points the account is active again and nothing is expiring. To be honest, I only flew VA once and I don't often fly them. Probably just as well transfer them over to Krisflyer.

How do you guys accumulate 2 million miles lol. I struggle to get 100000 quickly lol. How long did that take you?

I find that's the difference between my calculation of how much a point is worth and how some people on this forum do theirs. I am a small fish really. So I will only ever gets to 200,000 points or so. So I will never get to First Class. So my calculation is based on economy or business upgrade. Folks here are doing First so naturally it makes sense for them when doing the maths to see if credit card fees is worth it.

I have found if saver seat is available on SQ it can be booked directly with VA points, so not sure what the lol is for? Often makes more sense to do this rather than transfer points.

Yes, but this does not apply to F, which is where I would target if I'm looking at SQ as a serious option.

SQ only release F seats to KF members, which is a very big sticking point for me.

Also, the points tables still aren't the same, it would take more VF points than KF miles for the same redemption in most cases - however there are some sweet spot exceptions where a transfer wouldn't make sense. Of course, a bonus on VF like this month's muddles up the waters even more. In the end, gotta DYOR :)

I don’t book them so not 100% sure, but I thought VA did have access to F seats on SQ now? Obviously can’t waitlist though.

When you lose 35% in the transfer the number of VA points required is generally better kept in VA than transferred. But yea the SQ points amount is less if they are coming from other sources such as Amex.

Oh hey you're right - guess I'm behind the times! Seems like the route will still determine which program ends up being better value - though with the points bonus the odds are stacked a lot more against KF.

I linked accounts today and transferred from Velocity to KrisFlyer and surprised the transfer was instantaneous.

Did my first SQ redemption today, transferred VA points and hoped for the best and within 60secs, points were there and 2 x J redeemed.

Couldnt have been easier!

What was the main reason you transferred and didn't book direct through Velocity?

Velocity wasnt showing available return flight but SQ was.

Velocity SQ redemption SYD-SIN-AMS was 139K + $98.10AUD p/seat and SQ AMS-SIN-SYD was 105Kris Flyer/141KVA points plus $46.55EURO p/seat so I split the booking to secure the seats.
