Does anyone know how the velocity uograde system works?

I found out today that if you on the waitlist your uograde request gets cancelled if you check in when check in opens at t-48hours!

Key things I’m interested to hear is:
1) priority of points upgrades vs bids
2) when does virgin generally process each type of upgrade?

How did you find out? Wonder if this is why it didn't work for me twice...

I was on the phone with them to cancel an international redemption and then figured I’d just ask if they could open up an upgrade for me for a flight to Perth in two days time (they didn’t). But they did say as I’d already checked in that would’ve cancelled my upgrade request.

So she unchecked me in, re added me to the waitlist and said don’t check in until the airport or it will auto cancel the waitlist uograde.

Weird right!? No mention of that anyway on the website

Not that I know the answer, but I would follow her advice.
East coast to PER can be a mental "killer" on a 737 in Y.
At least at the airport, when you check in, if you get to J, its good, if not, you are still in Y, (horrid thought), and yes, I have done it several times Au - NZ/ADL - PER and back of the bus, in Y.

But, heh, row B/D is bad, too if down the back of the "bus".
