I'm curious ... apart from access to The Club lounges where available, what other benefits are given to members? Do we know?

If you have to ask, you don't need to know :)
Search this site for "The Club" as well, there have been a few scattered posts about it.

Do we know?

Apart from a few scattered comments I've read here and there..........I have no idea.

I think I might have read of upgrade to J but to be honest, as I'm not likely to be invited anytime soon, what the VVIPs (Indian term ;)) get falls pretty low down my list of must know trivia !

Generally 1A allocation for every flight regardless of fare type that was booked. Pax in 1A are moved.
Escorts to and from the gates etc

Now I acknowledge that this is unconfirmed and that Virgin is not obliged to provide anything more than the contracted service and published benefits but if they are going to go bumping a BIS plat on full fare business out of a pre-allocated 1A for a VVIP on a Saver Lite fare then they would want to hope they calculated carefully the commercial importance of the VVIP.

1A not a great seat in my experience. Pretty sure not many experienced BIS flyers would select this seat.

And on the E190 I'd much rather be in row 3 then rows 1 or 2 in terms of comfort.
(edit: I'm tall)

There have been two occasions where I have been moved from 1A for well known people.

I can add my 2c worth on this one. Earlier this year my son and I did CBR-MEL. My son (16) was 1A and I was 1C (738 J) and our recently elected federal opposition leader was in 2C........no VA VVIP for him, or if so, we didn't get bumped from our J reward seats!

Of course Bill was row 2. He leaves row 1 free for the Rabbott. He doesn't need to though, as the LNP members only fly RAAF charters.

If I was bumped from 1A for some VIP, it would be an interesting opportunity to say hello. E.g. after a while hit the head then on the return say "Ah, so you got my seat" etc. Glass half-full.

please keep spreading this! :P

if i was bumped from 1A there would most certainly be a scene

I've had a ticket for 2 seats in row 6 E & F where they have re-assigned the second seat to someone else within an hour of departure - I was pretty pissed.

But while I haven't been bumped from J for someone on VA, I have been in 1A with no one in 1C or D, someone in 1F and row 2 full and had the CS serve the people behind me in row 2A&C, then 2D&F, then 1F - brought all their food and drinks out, and then turned to me and said "oh did you want something?". This was a Flexi points upgrade to J with Silver FF and my first VA J seat. I was beyond furious.

That is pretty rank behaviour. What is the chance this might have been due to the fare class/upgrade?

I assume it was almost entirely that. At the end of that day though it's not like an FA will stop do food service for all WPs first, then feed gold, Etc Etc - they just go from front to back. It felt also like hostile or vicious though. They comped the ticket when I told them though so it wasn't all bad!
