Velocity/Virgin websites are RUBBISH

Are you sure? For example in recent times QF OCLI is unable to handle many basic multi segment journies ... E.g. a simple MEL-xSYD-DFW.

Haven't done multi-segments with VA, but their website is so coughbersome. Let's say you log in to find a booking, by the time you find it you'll have, at a minimum, 3 tabs open in Chrome.

Want to add your FF # to a booking, whoops - round we go for 10 minutes trying to find it.

Get a work itinerary from a travel agent (FCM Travel - but it could be anyone really), hmm....lets run you around for an hour and put you back to where you started. Ok l give up, l'll call VA to manually add it. VA - l'll hang up on you after you add your VA FF # in....twice...

Everything just seems harder to do on VA with things you take for granted on QF.

Once work booked me on QF (which l didn't know about - last minute), l got a SMS from QF with flight details. This would never happen with Virgin.

*Edit - here is another one. After manually adding my FF# to the booking and selecting a seat, come check-in - the check-in kiosk can never read my FF card. Always have to put in destination and name to find booking even though they are linked. It's just the little (and big) things that VA seem to miss...

I don't see to have all of the problems above. For me, both have their quirks. Some things just don't work on QF, and some things just don't on VA. The interlining seating issue on VA is one of the bigger bugbears of mine. However at least I can call and get an answer very quickly to get what I need done. QF has some benefits too because it uses Amadeus. There is always somewhere else to try what you need if QF.com says no.

I just booked a redemption SYD-PER in J and no problems at all. Even did the seat selection on an A330.

Well my SIL had a cough flight over from PER to SYD so I comped her a return in business class going SYD-PER. It’s a long weekend in Perth and she was using her free flight off a credit card. I think she may notice the difference. I believe she was a bit shocked at my points balance as l have been using the other guys unless they have dust. Was not really worried about missing a 30% off deal but I had seen the offer.

Trying to book a reward flight. Although already logged in, it apparently doesn't recognise this and throws up a login screen when trying to proceed - but won't accept the correct credentials. Hopeless.

Currently browsing flights on VA’s mobile website (on iPad) for Mr J for an upcoming trip to MEL in October. HBA-MEL flights display correctly for each outbound date I look at, no problem, but no matter what return date I select, it shows just ONE flight on each date MEL-HBA. What the ...? Yet if I do the return trip as a separate one-way booking, all the available flights for each date show correctly. Go figure ...

Anyone else tried to use the VA booking site lately? Its still rubbish, ended up having to call and book my domestic flight.

Looking to book in the next couple of days to get double points. You’re not filling me with confidence @eastwest101 😨
Is this only a website issue?
I book most of my flights on my IPad through the app and no issues. Just booked some domestic flights a few minutes ago hassle free

Yes it's a website issue, I don't want to fill my devices with apps for every single company I want to deal with, that's what the internet is for, so there is supposed to be a standard portal for customers to book airfares, something that I would think is pretty important for an airline that is short of revenue and profit!

Oh I understand that.
I was just trying to find out if was their whole system playing up or just the website component

How timely that this thread has resurfaced. I just made my first VA booking for ages via work's TA. I went straight to the VA site to check that my Velocity number was properly linked to the booking. (Work's new travel system has been a bit dodgy).

Log in with Velocity at the top of the page. Click on my Bookings and a new tab opens unnecessarily with an almost empty page with fields to add a new booking. Scroll down and see my newly minted booking hiding at the bottom of the page with ugly database interface telling me it's showing row 1 of 1. Being 3rd party booking I can't interact with the site to do something as basic as pick a seat. I can say with all seriousness that the cough online experience is costing VA business from me. They are often the most convenient and cheapest airline on routes I regularly fly, but I avoid them for several reasons...the website among them.

I'm the same - just lucky that my TA doesn't want to book VA (nothing in it for them), so I do either via Accelerate website (anoter case in point, but geting a little better) or direct using the discount codes on another thread. At least I can choose seats and upgrade now online, without the need for Customer Service involvement.
