Velocity wants to know if you prefer bonus status credits or points

Got this one as well sadly already re-qualified for plat until May 2026 thanks to the flurry of DSC/TSC offer last year so it’s just going down the drain.

Email suggests no activation required but I can't see anything in my offers list on the Velocity website. Is that the same for everyone?

I also received the email. The app didn't have this offer to activate so it must be automatic. But I did see a separate offer for bonus SCs for business. They really must need the cash hit? 😕

There was something that need to be ticked in response to that original email back in December otherwise you won't receive it.

I suppose they're getting a sense of just how far people really fly with bums in seats and those who rack it up with credit cards e.t.c. Their program might be a profit maker but I can see them figuring out ways to 'revalue' the system...

I was watching this conversation with interest but no e-mail came through. Ho, hum... I went and booked a one-way domestic VA flight yesterday, with the return date still TBC.

This afternoon, I now have a personalised double points offer from Velocity, which specifically cites yesterday's booking.

"Mr GO, we can't wait to welcome you on board for your flight from Sydney to Melbourne on <date>. We'd also like to offer you twice the reason to book your next flight with Virgin Australia too. You can earn double Velocity points when you book an eligible Virgin Australia flight by Tuesday 28 February 2025. That's 10 Points per $1 spent on eligible flight. Plus, as a Platinum member you'll receive an additional 5 Bonus Points per $1 spent on addition to the double Points earned (excluding Economy Lite fares)."

Looking at the T&C's here, yesterday's booking doesn't even qualify for double points, as it was made before I received and activated this offer. Booked via Amex, so I can't be bothered to cancel and re-book just for double points. I'd do it for DSC, being a first-time WP with VA and highly doubtful that I will requalify once the devaluation comes through.

I don't recall being asked about my preferences for double points or DSC but that's a no-brainer... alas, when I make the return booking this weekend, double points it shall be.

Got the email December, voted for DSC and haven't received email from Velocity.
Would have attempted and probably have gotten to Platinum but won't bother now.

Years gone past AFF would be a flurry of activity if there was a DSC on. I know it’s targeted but there seems to be general disinterest in status runs for velocity now with the incoming changes.

I’ve certainly considered using the offer to maintain gold or bump back up to platinum again, but poor recent experiences with VA have made me have second thoughts. Plus I have no intention of maintaining status in the long term with the spend requirements.

Booked two domestic trips which will see me keep Platinum for another year, something I hadn't expected to do as the program changes had pushed me to start booking some award flights instead of chasing credits. Best value was a SYD-MEL-HBA-MEL-SYD in J at $970 for 440 SCs.

Somewhat strangely, although the email definitely indicates double SCs, when I log into VFF now it shows a "double points" offer. Don't think I am going to receive both 😄 but it would be interesting to see if others are seeing the same or if I'm going to have a fight on my hands when it comes to getting the extra SCs to post!

I opted for points as am chasing reward flights
Dropped to gold last year but am way over platinum SC’s
SC rich but sector poor
Maybe we need to start a sector run thread
The disadvantage of living in Perth
Fly to Sydney and back J and get two sectors 😂
Focused on international travel so not doing the OZ sectors like I used to as I sit at the Hilton Doha
Anyhow will get to Platinum with two more sectors before all the changes occur but will not deliberately chase status after that
