Very cheap business class points + pay redemptions

The T&C on J redemptions seems to infer that you can cancel without penalty unless the booking was made on a Virgin voucher from a previous cancellation. I'd have a good solid read-up before doing it though.

Ta, I'll have a good read over it and see how I go.

From the T & Cs for my booking.

REFUNDS: If you cancel your flight in accordance with these fare rules, you may receive a refund. Refunds can be requested by contacting the GCC or by emailing your booking reference number, the name of the Guest and flight dates to [email protected] If you are eligible for this option, you can elect to receive the refund in the same form as the original form of payment, except where you have paid by cash or EFTPOS, the refund will be directly deposited into your nominated Australian or New Zealand bank account. If you have booked using credit from another Virgin Australia fare type, you will not be eligible for a refund. If you have paid in Velocity Points your Points will receive a refund in Points. Refunds will reach your account within 7 - 10 business days.

Speaking of T&Cs, has anyone at Virgin actually proof read what they are sending out.

Here are some gems from my "***Business Reward"

THE BASICS:

access to the Virgin Australia Lounge, in major domestic airports including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, In the air, you can enjoy a full premium dining experience from our exclusive business class menu and in-flight entertainment Canberra and Perth domestic airports...
Huh... cut&paste gone wild

Velocitys partner airlines practice responsible service of alcohol…
Even the overworked grammar checker on my computer spotted the lack of Velocity's apostrophe there.

live2air is available on the majority of Virgin Australia's aircraft…
Pity it's not available AT ALL in business class!

The entire "baggage" section is a cut and paste of "the basics" section from above.

FLIGHT CHANGES:
For date and time changes, you may only make a change to another Premium Economy Velocity Redemption Fare of the same or greater value.
I didn't think that they offered domestic premium economy anymore, anyway isn't this a business reward?

KEY FEATURES
Unlimited in-flight entertainment with in-seat monitors
Looking forward to seeing those in-seat monitors, which they mention as a key feature in business class, on their 737s!

Additional Velocity Points and Status Credits for every dollar you spend on your flight
So, as I co-paid a large amount of money towards the cost of this business reward ticket, should I be expecting points and status credits?

It's funny that you posted this, I was reading through these very terms and conditions last night and noticed all of these issues. Also, on the final confirmation before paying, there is a link to "Business Class" that goes to a 404-not found page ...

edit: this is the broken link

Hi All

First time poster so be gentle. Does anyone know how long these deals are going to last or are they always available.

Thanks
:D

This is not a deal as such, its just the way Virgin attribute the cost of the points when converting to cash, it wont last much longer I expect although its been there since June last year.

Virgin rewards do not earn points or SCs at this stage, it was only April last year the QF allowed any seat awards to do so.

Ha...thanks...you beat me before I got my edit in....thought that was still the case......still great value either way....

Hi
I am trying book Adl to Syd in October but the sliding scale for Points plus Pay is not displayed , I assumed that this would appear before entering passenger details.
Do you have to have enough points to cover the original business fare to get to that screen?

You have to enter passenger details first (but no CC info). The next page will allow you to adjust the price/points ratio

I just click the button/Tab that says "I'm Flying" and all your details are automatically entered. Check out all the costs/points etc and if doable then go back and check availabilty for numbers in your booking per flight. If that stacks up, then enter all details, final check and be prepared to finalise the booking then and there to save doing it all again at some point.

Mmm. I remember reading this. So, this would cover off the possibility of upgrading from a non refundable discount Y fare to business only to cancel the new J fare and get a refund I assume.

Is this mean that I would be able to book a points + pay and get a full refund if I need to cancel? I am thinking of booking one but not very positive my boss will let me go!

I just had to cancel 3/4 of a points and pay and got the refund and points back within 24 hours. When I canceled they said 7 to 10 days. So all is good. :-)
