Hopefully not, I don't have the capability to download the app. Last time I used my card at 711 it would not work. Looks like as soon as I can burn my points I'll say farewell Velocity.

My card is old and still works their. Although now I will take better care of it if no replacements are coming. Plus the collection from previous years.

Have downloaded the app to my phone, lucky it had space.
Now, the next thing I have to do is to log in and see if I can do that.
As there are not going to be any more physical cards/unless they change their minds from our moans, and that VA does not have a lot of international destinations, for those still have to go to counter for passport swiping, hopefully they will still allow OLCI from home printed A4 paper/office printed, that would be good.
But then, coming back "home" from inter/intrastate, who can we trust to print a BP, /or and would OLCI work, that is the main point, for Aust dom travel?
Would we still be able to go to the VFF website, enter our VFF #, log in with password, and be able to do OLCI that way.
Haven't checked out the app indepth to see what is needed to log in, QFF has the 3 questions, or the 2fa sms to phone, but not sure what VFF's procedure is as yet.
Don't have any current bookings...
Family has told me not to fly interstate, even though I am triple jabbed/vaccinated.
Maybe one of the colleagues on here, with a flight in the next few hours, could try logging into the VFF app and try OLCI.
Not sure when I will dare to fly again (soon).
FB is the only way I am keeping my VFF account alive at the moment.

Just take/keep a screenshot of the bar code?!

Cards are going the way of VHS tapes.

I’ve got all my cards on my phone digital wallet now, The only two cards I now hold are my license and backup bank card inside my phone case hidden.

The amount of cards that people carry these days are just crazy. I know one guy who has so many he now has 2 wallets. I get a lot of crazy looks when I tell people I don’t even have a wallet anymore :p

Pilots can even download the CASA flight crew license to the digital wallet now.

Yeah I'm always trying to minimise the number of physical cards. Still see people with physical Flybuys and Woolworths cards. Unless you're redeeming Flybuys Dollars, why would you want to carry the card?

I redeem dollars via the Woolworths Rewards digital card. Unless flybuys is still behind the times there (not a member don’t shop at Coles)

WWR uses the bar code to redeem. FB needs the magnetic strip. To earn, both use bar codes.

There are no longer cards for Red and Silver members. Gold and Platinum can still get cards. (

The way it should be really as there is no purpose to a card for Red and Silver. Especially now that the pre-loaded payment card is gone. Print out the digital one if required if that function is still available?

Gold/Platinum do still need them for lounge access at partner lounges.

Funnily enough, having just hit WP status a few weeks ago, a welcome pack with luggage tags and a physical card arrived in the mail yesterday, so they’re not completely dead, yet… Having said that I much prefer having this on my phone than the physical card. Can’t say I’ve needed a physical one over the last few years, domestically at least. Checking in you can just show a digital BP and for lounge access they just scan the BP off the phone. Overseas partner lounges I guess are the only reason you’d need one now?

A family member recently (within the last month) qualified for gold and was sent a new card. They still seem to be printing them and sending them out just not to everyone.

Used my plastic Woolworths card at Woolworths and Bunnings today, and at BWS, and BigW and Woolworths on weekend. And my Flybuys card at 1st Choice on Friday.

And used my Virgin card a few times on weekend. Once to hand to a car rental person to add in - not sure if any 'app' would have helped her?

Was standing behind some dopey woman at ADL lounge Sunday who was wresting in her phone for a few mins to find something in there to prove she had access. Not sure why her boarding pass did not show it, or maybe she was not flying, and just wanted to use lounge, who knows, but it held me up.

And had to show my medicare card at a pathology lab today.

Nothing at all wrong with plastic cards really. :)

SQ has ditched plastic cards for all tiers. This is a shame, as cards come with luggage tags that are nice to dangle from hand luggage. My BA Gold luggage tag used to get me fantastic treatment at duty free shops including tastes of whisky that were not on display. Also you'd think the luggage tags were great adverts for the airlines, creating the (sometimes incorrect) impression that people thought the airline was good enough to use regularly.

FB redemption at Coles needs physical card, as there needs a pin on it to redeem FB $.
Will do a google pay photo of my VFF PS card.
Heh.
If I can retain that till I fly again...
Thanks all.

My goooglepay on phone won't take a photo of the card.
Can enter the numbers manually.
So its all computerized numbers in my case, and no barcode or QR code on it.
My last few cards from VFF have not had ever had the barcode on it, like on the VA BP.
So will have to find some time to ditch out my password for VFF and log in and see if I can use the app to log in, and then see the download, if the download is in the form of a barcode or QR code.

The thing about SQ, is that when we check in from home in Aust, 48 hours before flight, we can print the SQ BP from home.
And if flying from SIN, then still have to go to counter to have passport swiped, as in other parts of the world that SQ flies to and from, ...
Hopefully VA won't take away the check in machines at Aust dom airports though, if they haven't already done so.
I guess in the end, with entry to the lounge still needing to view the BP to enter, and if OLCI work 100%, and if PS/J/subclass of J booking still need to view and scan BP, then the physical card is indeed passe/pass its use by date.
Though, no 711 outlets in South Aust, so can't earn VFF points that way, here in SA, but if I go interstate, will need the barcode to scan at 711 outlets.
