That's been asked before without reply. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting, if I were you.

Next status year I'll be in the same boat. Come March, my account will enter the twilight zone and I have a number of flights booked (about 120SCs worth) that will disappear into the ether. I've never yet needed to do it, but it does seem the common experience is that they'll credit them to your account if you need them for requal. I wonder though, whether they'll do that for a family member as the lack of those SCs may mean we cannot family pool quite as early as we would otherwise.

Re: Status credits lost due to slow platinum upgrade

Hmmm.. swanning_it, that's weird. Why wouldn't they answer ????? Obviously if we are asking about the 'black hole' situation we are very good supporters of Virgin..

My questions are regarding 800 odd SC's earned the hard way on bum numbing seats, and personally paid for, so no reply is not going to work for me.

Let's hope by 2015 there has been a change.

I wouldn't attempt to hazard a guess on that, I was just stating a fact. One doesn't have to scroll back too far in this thread to see that requests have been made for VFF to comment, yet VFF has been active on the forum (today even) and no reply. My observation (which may be wrong and may not be the observation of all AFF) is that VFF comments occasionally on some "easy" matters or matters that shine in a favourable light for VA or VFF but anything too problematic is simply ignored until it goes away. Many AFFers (all good VA clients) have said the same thing......there should not be a black hole! There should not be a three to four week wait for requal assessment for the vast majority of VFFers who requal way before the expiry of their status year. I think the fact this majorly sucks for VFF and is an embarrassment to them means it's simply ignored.

Noted, that they in fact had been on the forum and answered 'lighter' issues rather than this thread, not only yesterday, but for nearly 2 years .

Going forward, Velocity are aware of it and are looking into 'why'.

To be continued.. with hopefully some better Customer Service.

Well, I've been critical of VA/VFF on the "black hole" saga (and to be honest, VFF has been true to form and not responded to the questions asked), but I've had a positive experience with my review period so I'll post it here.

My review only took two weeks (rather than the four from previous years) so despite it not being instant (as it could well be for the majority of status members), it has at least improved. The better news is that no SCs were lost to the black hole....in fact it looks like the black hole has closed up! Came review time and the tally locked at what it was on the day of the review date and all subsequent SCs clocked up on the 12 month rolling balance but didn't add to the status "earn" tally. When the review was completed, the SCs were then added so they count toward this years status requal.

Could still be better, but it's a far more positive situation than we've had previously.
