Just saw pictures of apparently VH-ZNC that performed FCO - PER and was damaged upon landing in PER.

Comments say it may have been due to debris on the runway and fire trucks were dispatched. Anyone with proper information?

Is this likely to further throw QFi into schedule chaos? How long to fix something like this?

Different people though. One is commercial, and other engineering. Whilst I’m not particularly familiar with the 787, I wouldn’t be surprised if there has been some level of planning in the design to mitigate the effect of a tyre shedding the tread. On the other hand, this is the new Boeing (he says, reading about the OneWayLiner).

What does the second picture show? Is that just ripped tread stuck to the underside of the plane? Or has it punctured the skin of the aircraft?

Looking carefully at the image, and others online, it's the starboard outer rear tyre. The impacts are on the wing, mainly hitting small panels that should be easily removed/replaced (assuming they have any spares, though they are items likely to be accrue damage). You could possibly even fly without them. The silver line across the image is the edge of the flap, and that is likely to be more interesting.

HAs PVG ended yet? Perhaps they could reaccomodate what few pax they have flying there and ease the route early and shuffle a/c around?

According to The Age the incident occurred on takeoff in FCO. Flight crew were unaware, not detected until ground inspection in Perth.
