Victoria Daylight Savings

I think the average summer temperature in Adelaide is hotter than Brisbane. And we cope with DST fine.

Just checked. It's the same.

Have you LIVED in those states? It's HOT. When you have DST it means it's hottest when the kids are (supposed to be) walking home from school, and when workers get out and are trying to get home (often on un-airconditioned public transport).
I have been living in BNE for the past 6 years.

It wouldn't hurt anyone nor ruin anyone's beauty sleep if sun was still up at 8:00pm during summer months.

Always a heated debate. Now living somewhere that geographically speaking is on permanent daylight savings I love it. Much prefer sunrise at 7am and sunset at 7pm to the situation 20 km south of Singapore. But admittedly there are only 100 or so rural residents in the whole country!

But also loved it in Melbourne, and observed that in Brisbane and Toowoomba and other parts of Qld I used to travel it defacto exists anyway in people's earlier starting and finishing work times.

That might well be the case for tradies, but it sure isn't for normal office based workers. Whilst my company allows flexible working, it would take a dim view if I announced my new hours to be 5am to 1:30pm.

I was really talking about the one hour difference ...comparing MEL "office" hours to my Qld counterparts, who seemed to start more at 7:30 rather than 8:30/9 and finish at 4 rather than 5-6pm.

Daylight saving? I'd rather it didn't exist.

I love daylight saving!!! Wish we had it in WA and yep I voted a HUGE yes!!! to it in 2009 but in all honesty, I was the minority. Everyone I spoke to when the vote was was saying no :(

Although Oct/Nov is going to be interesting for me as I'll be in Melb on Sun 5th when you guys go 3 hours forward then flying back to Perth that night where I'll rewind 3 hours instead of 2 then on 2nd Nov I'll be I the states where I'll start on DST then wind clocks back again 1 hour.

It is very annoying though when you have your own business and need to deal with the eastern states. Everything has to be ordered and finalised by around midday here which is impossible in our game. You wouldn't think that 1 extra hour would matter but it really does.

Unless there has been a change this year, NT does not have DLS either. That makes 1.5 hours difference from Tas, Vic, NSW, ACT and 1 hour different from SA that do have summer time.
From a work point of view it is a bit of a pain not being able to ring WA/NT till later after DST comes in but after I get used to the darker mornings when it first starts, I like summer time.
