Video Ad Problem – November 2021

Yea, as an AFF Supporter you shouldn't be seeing these (or any) ads. I'll be reporting this as a problem to our ad partner and will hopefully be fixed soon. Apologies for this.

This problem should now be resolved. If you are an AFF Supporter you should no longer be seeing that video ad. Apologies for yesterday's hiccup!

Pop up ads are back?

I got them too today for the first time !!

Are you sure you are logged into AFF when you are viewing the Gazette articles? AFF Supporters should not see any ads on either the forum or article (ie. Gazette) pages but you do need to be logged into AFF so that the system can recognise your Supporter status.

Maybe when you click through from a Gazette email link, your phone opens a new browser window in the non-logged in status?

What you are experiencing there is that clicking a link from the gazette takes you directly to the article, but you must first stop by the forums, even if always logged in, as this helps the gazette articles realise that you have upgraded – as you note because it's a different platform.

This is not related to the video ad problem which was corrected overnight. We are trialing this exit pop-up from some article pages (NOT forum pages). It displays very infrequently but I do realise that Gazette subscribes will see it as well. As I say it is being trialed at the moment.

Yes it certainly is a forum thread! Looks like the pop-up software is buggy and I have just paused it. Will need to investigate further. Apologies for this.
