There are a number of items on-line about Vietjet preparing to announce direct flights from Perth to Ho Chi Minh City. I have linked the Airlines Ratings item because I can't properly access the other sites that are talking about this news. I am pretty sure that this is the first time direct Perth - Vietnam commercial scheduled passenger flights will have occurred.

Actually this has been a good couple of days for Perth as Singapore Airlines have also announced that they will be adding an extra daily A350-900 flight to Perth from March next year. This means that SQ will then be offering more seats Per/Sin than prior to Covid.

They seem to have some PER-SGN flights on sale now for under $200. But only in one direction - the flights the other way are over $1,000. 🤷‍♂️

I think I saw some clickbait on that?
You have to book on, I think, Wednesday through Friday?
And the actual Straya to Vietnam flight is $0, with taxes amounting to the ~$200.

I think the clickbait I read also said they were looking at something similar out of MEL & SYD?

It seems that the news has become even better for Perth/Vietnam links with claims that Vietnam Airlines intends to fly Perth/ Hanoi from December. The catch is that I can only see this on the Airlines Ratings site so it is news that needs to be treated very cautiously.

A 7hr flight on a narrowbody? No thankyou!

I think 4-5hrs is the maximum I'd be willing to do.
Their SYD & MEL to SGN flights are on ex Air Asia A333s, with 9 abreast. Can confirm its squishy either way...

Beat That Flight were advertising it as $6 flights on MEL & SYD, if that rings a bell

The $0 fares are still available

The people of Perth will need to quickly grasp that booking with Vietjet on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday brings the cheapest fares. To celebrate launching the route the airline is offering $0 tickets (excluding taxes and fees) from now until the end of December 31st, 2023, but they must be booked from 00:00 to 23:59 on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Fake news? I'm trying to book today, on a Wednesday. Below is a screen capture of the fare I'd pay. An absolute rip-off.

Are other people out there managing to find these 0$ fares (excluding taxes and fees)?

I've been on an A330 on D7 (AirAsia) from KUL to ICN where it was a 3-3-3 config, I'd still much rather that than a narrowbody.

I was in the very last row, whether that makes any difference or not.

Each to their own.

If PER get the A350 that would be excellent for them. I think the VN product is seriously underrated

I've spotted a couple in the SGN->PER direction, but not the other way around.

I have not flown them but was taking a pretty serious look at them for our proposed trip to Germany later this year. Almost all the video reviews showed a good 4* experience and I would have been happy with them until a Oman Air/MH trip combination became feasible.

Yeah, they are a good solid 4* product but you definitely made the right move going WY IMO, they are one of my favourites

I wonder if anyone's told Vietjet Air they have to advertise their prices including taxes when selling ex Australia?

That’s a really good point, I was kinda/sorta wondering how come they were making those $0-fare claims when nobody else does … I now know why nobody else does!

Appears QH have a drip pricing strategy.
Eg “$180” fare SYD-HAN in Oct 2023 almost doubled by mandatory fees, taxes and charges.

Last time I looked VJ were pricing lawfully from the East Coast, it was a competitor not including taxes in the headline fare .
