VietJet to start MEL-SGN flights

I don't expect anyone to know, but would anyone know when Vietjet will release April fares? I realise it's northern hemisphere summer. Thanks!

Heard that Vietjet is already planning to increase frequencies into MEL and SYD in September...

Wonder they don't look at Nha Trang (CXR) or Danang (DAD) as alternatives to DPS or HKT. We were in Nha Trang last weekend for a long weekend, and there were of course plenty of Koreans (with 9-10 daily flights CXR-ICN), but the place was also crawling with Australians, I guess they use services via SGN.

Or JQ fares via SIN perhaps?

So, the Victorian government is funding something that allows Victorians to holiday elsewhere. Makes sense.

Possibly. Although Vietjet a very strong brand in Vietnam (and Thailand) but not so strong in Australia or elsewhere, so it could well have a high proportion of Vietnamese on board. I suspect JQ, SQ, QF/3K, TR, VN, MH and perhaps D7 are more likely to be carrying Victorians. But then again if kayak, google flights etc brings up a cheap flight, some don't focus so much on the brand.

Dan also gave Etihad millions to increase flights from 4 weekly to daily after Covid. Something they would have done regardless without taxpayer handouts. The stupid thing is we already gave them handouts to increase to double daily before Covid, so let’s just give them more $$$.

There’s also a large local Vietnamese diapsora (as well as Cambodian), with VFR travel in both directions.

Vietjet now adding Hanoi to Melbourne starting June 3rd

Are they reasonable with flight schedules or do we see frequent reschedules/cancellations like some of our local carriers ?

Asking for a trip in Dec 2024 before we finalise the booking as I was trying to avoid Vietjet.

Cheers/K

They don’t appear to have cancelled any A330 flights at all, and have not rescheduled. As they are overnight flights you can pretty much guarantee they will stay similar regardless.

A321 they have which was engineering due to an engine change.

So far so good. Delays do appear a bit hit and miss, 2/3hr delays is likely the worst that you might get.
