Took the family (5A + 1C) to Vietnam for a brilliant 8 day trip - Saigon, Hue and Hoi An. Booked Y+ for the overnight flight home, it was only $180 extra per seat. I was originally going to leave our lads in Y, however the "nice dad" genes kicked in!
Anyhoo, while there we received an email that the aircraft type had changed, meaning no Y+. Our options were:
1) Accept a voluntary downgrade to Y, with a full refund of the Y+ SGN-SYD fare; or
2) Rebook to another flight with Y+
As we had connecting flights to BNE, only 1) would work.
Upon arrival in SYD, I sent an email requesting the refund. After a couple of clarification emails (credit card details etc), the refund was processed about 5 hours later.
As an aside - VN was perfectly fine in Y - the A359 is waaayyy better that the creaky QF A333s for regional travel, and on-board no worse than QF (though not to SQ standard though).
