For trips less than 15 days, citizens of the United Kingdom can enter Vietnam without a visa. Upon their arrival, visa requirements state that a British traveler must have their UK passport on hand, and their passport must be valid for six months after their arrival date.

I have a UK passport that expires exactly 6 months after our proposed entry date, e.g. entry date 15th January expiry date 15th July. I would be arriving at Hanoi airport from Singapore. Mrs SS would prefer we arrived on 16th January

I can find no information as to how exactly the six months is defined. Is it 180 days as some countries interpret? Or is it 15th to 15th or what?

I have tied ringing Vietnamese embassy in Canberra and haven't got through to anyone yet. Emails have also gone unanswered.

Does anyone have any knowledge or experience? Would I be compliant arriving on the 15th January? And what about arriving on 16th or 17th?

According to uk.gov, 6 months from date of arrival. So arrive on 15th, passport must be valid to 15th.

Arriving 16 or 17 probably won’t get you past checkin.

Vietnam seems to work on calendar month. If you read this page, while it is talking about visas, it says your passport must be valid for one month after your visa validity, and they use dates - for example 15-15- rather than 30 days: I. Any update on that? We are in the same position. Our entry date in on the 15th of September and passport expires on the 14th of March. Do you believe we might be denied entry?

Not yet as I haven't booked my flights. But according to @MEL_Traveller you could well have a problem.
