Vinomofo Wine Deals

Ok, so now we have 98pt $13 plonk. The debasing of wine ratings find new levels and it genuinely puts me off websites that spruik them. But I doubt they're going to get all principled and not cite them, and I can't see how the buying public will, or even could, arrest the race to the bottom...

Yes we can say ratings suck and smart ppl do their research (and participate in forums of wise buyers - mhm hi everyone), but I can't help but feel it wasn't always this bad, and ratings were a bit useful.

A tiny tiny tiny bit cynically I'm looking out to the day, coming soon it seems, when one of these beauties cracks the ton!

The 98 pts is a cynical and invalid extrapolation of a Winestate 5-star rating. Should be ignored in every instance. These will gradually go away since Winestate is essentially defunct.

This is semi-reassuring RB, but Sam K almost has us in the same place too with pretty average wines, Halliday is three points higher across the board for average wines than where he was only a few years ago, and many others seem to be following suit (presumably in order to remain popular with producers...). I can't see how the rot stops!

Perhaps I'm just tired and need a good kip.

What are peoples’ opinions on the legitimacy of the lucky dip cases? Looking at the current one, even without the random bottle the selection looks ok to me, but…

I can’t really believe that I have a chance at a bottle of Grange. A human has to pack those cases, and would there really be a couple still sitting in the warehouse with no one knowing?

Someone on this forum several pages back plucked a Grange in their pack. I wouldn't buy the case on the basis of the Grange, - it's a very long shot bonus at best.

As an FYI appears to be this

Better odds at the TAB

Your chances average out at about equivalent to free shipping.

Personally I'd rather grab a case with a known free shipping rather than take the 1 in 100 of a big win

Thanks Sir Crumpet!

Did come across the Penna Lane in my web travels so great to get that locked in/seconded- but with the KIN Blewitt Springs Grenache 2022- I can't find any info on this wine anywhere?

Assuming it is made by Alkina? As far as I know they only use Barossa Fruit so is this only advertised internally to Alkina members? I also wasn't aware that Alkina had been sold through vinomofo before (fave producer icon indicates they've maybe sold them before doesn't it?). Any help or a link to this wine would be great :)
Hello Lorenzo,

Elle here from Alkina, Barossa Valley. I just wanted to clarify your question above regarding the Vinomofo offer. Whilst I can't comment on the brand Kin as a standalone, I can assure you that Alkina only produces wine from Greenock, Barossa Valley, only ever sourced from our Estate Vineyard. We additionally have never sold wine to Vinomofo. We do have a range called 'Alkina Kin', however this is certainly not the wine advertised above.

Hope that helps.

Elle

First offered in February this year with the same deal number, $35 originally.

BTW the supposed RRP of $150 is quite fanciful, this is fairly priced at about $25-$30.
