Vinomofo Wine Deals

i asked [post=1249219]previously[/post] with no response but thought i'd try again if anyone can help identify ICONIC SECRET Deal Riesling 2013 - White Wine or does nobody drink riesling/white around here? :)

howard park was suggested earlier but what about castle rock estate? iconic enough?

btw how often do vim emails include a free shipping code? every time or is it just a few days before a free shipping event like at the end of last month?

Have you tried? Thoughts?
This weekend is the trial.....interestingly, the 2010 cab shiraz, their inaugural I believe just picked up a gold at the international wine challenge. This should be a good thing for the single varietal cabernet as the same grapes would have been used. All we know about this oddity is that it will be a bit smoky and deep flavoured with more wood that Johny Holmes so i suggest 6 hours decanting for this one. The quorum quorum tasting session is on. !

I was tempted also, but bought the Mornington offer earlier. Now thinking this is the better deal, but can't be bothered returning the first.

Compared to the $68 for 1.5L 2009 currently selling it's value for money.
i had the 2010 merindoc on jan16 this year with two mates. it was incredible. easily a 9. so i am in again ! as it was part of a mixed black earlier, then it was under twelve bucks.....sigh!

Good to hear beefarmer... According to Langton's, the region's 2012 shiraz is rated slightly higher (10) than that of 2010 (9)...Placed my order earlier today...

opened the adelaide winemakers quorum 2000 and initially, on the nose, it seemed very closed but after a small quarter glass taste, you know that it has that quality that you would expect from a vinomofo red that normally retails for over fifty.... the initial excitement of tasting something new always leads to expectations that are met or unmet...you know the apprehension we all experience with a new wine, hoping the nose is good as a starter. Well it is.....so i decanted it into my beer jug allowing for maximum aeration, and after about one hour, another sampler.... only half a glass, but thankfully you can taste the quality. this is supposed to be over fifty clams normally, so expectations are naturally high..... it's still damn good.....the fruit is beggining to come out but it is mellow, well made, and full flavoured with a few years behind it. I was expecting this wine to be similiar to the reviews a read about the 2009...a smoky, overtly american wooded wine, but it isn't. Tomorrow, a have another go with a mate, but it's a winner so far.

G'day VM fans. I'm new to the AFF forums, but my google research kept leading me here. Therefore I considered it about time I registered and got more involved.

I'm reading with interest some of the Shelmerdene Merindoc comments as I purchased some 2008 last year from VM and for a Shiraz, it was a bit weird and underwhelming to be honest, especially for such a highly praised wine. I have since read a few reviews that have also hinted at it's peculiarities.

Anyhow, great to be on-board.
