Vinomofo Wine Deals

Mmm. I am not sure I would be tempted by a mixed pack of Pinot Noirs, not without knowing their providence. There's no point buying wine for the sake of it being cheap, particularly if it's Pinot Noir.

If they included one of their Duck Sauce collaboration wines, that wouldn't be too bad. The 2013 was nice, but haven't tried the 2014.

What Pinot Noirs have they done recently? :

- today's Petaluma White Label
- their Duck Sauce 2014
- the posh one from Tassie that had no discount (can't remember the name)
- the Tomich 777-1
- others? ...

[I tried a Collaboration Case a few months back and I wasn't blown away by any of them. Although, The Duck Sauce was one of the nicer ones, for sure. The Orgy was awful. Very, very sweet. And that wasn't just my view, it was shared at dinner with 6 friends. They were all polite, until I said something. And we all agreed to pour it down the sink and open a bottle of something new. They all loved the name, though!]

They had Trapeze Pinot a few months back. And in the past they've had the 6 foot 6 Pinot which went gangbusters when it was offered! I think they also still have the Phi hanging around which they can't get rid of.

I feel I've waited forever for a pinot noir, especially after missing the Kiwi one, but this one doesn't seem to be grabbing me.

Maybe it is time to try the Duck Sauce 2014

Has anyone tried the Phi Pinot Noir? I've been dithering on that one for a while.

Where do you guys 'hear' things?
My broke is a bit absent these days... Probably because he was just regurgitating the notes?

Broker. I had a bit of credit at the time and was sussing out what pinots weren't on the site, wasn't much but there was word of a mixed pack.

Just had this forwarded - its Hallidays take on the Petaluma

Hand-picked, fermented and matured in used French barriques for 7 months. Excellent colour, deep and bright; a powerful wine with satsuma plum and black/red cherries to the fore; the palate has good structure and length. A serious pinot at the right price, particularly good for the Adelaide Hills.94pts

Personally I would follow the previous post.

I Like the sounds of more pinot being on offer and would definately try a pinot pack should it come up. I might just have to save the $100 credit i left for a mix like that

Is it likely that it's the White label Petaluma Pinot? From the notes posted earlier it's 14% whereas Vinomofo have it listed at 14.5%

I guess there is always the generous return policy...

Has anyone tried the Phi Pinot Noir? I've been dithering on that one for a while.

No. But I had the PHI Chardonnay 2012, and it is very, very good. I didn't mind paying the $34 odd a bottle that it cost.

I keep being tempted by the Pinot Noir too, but I am being put off by the price. If it was $35 or less, then I would jump on for a 95 pointer (ignoring the 97 score from RSWS).

Beefarmer - I think the good folk at mof_ have been spying on this thread and have answered our wishes (or maybe not, and we have just got lucky)!

mof_ Buyer, Kate gives this latest Pinot Noir a good write up - doesn't she always! Is it worth jumping on this one? mof_ has left me with very high expectations and tastes now, so not sure on this one ...
Wozza..just logged....i passed on it but got the quickly sold hawsburn 2011 from new Zealand......i think a better philosophy could be to get a six pack at 15-20dollars

That's right. It wasn't a Tassie wine - it was the NZ Ant Moore.

If they included the Ant Moore, the Phi, the Trapeze, the 6 Foot 6, the Petaluma and the Duck Sauce, I would be very tempted. I doubt they would offer that pack for $99, so I am guessing it would be 5 cheap ones and one (reasonably) expensive one to seal the deal.

Pretty sure the Golden Lion is back as the description below gets a match in Google

The yield was low, resulting in concentrated fruit bursting with flavour of ripe plums and dark blueberry with a spicy edge.

There is also a Black Market Zinfandel which I think may be the Churchview St Johns. Emphasis on the may

Well just chill out mof_s, the source of our wino wisdom is none other than resident vino lover Kate, who described the drop as ‘intense, dark & full of spice, to say zinfandel is a brooding beast is an understatement

Price matches, alc is 16.1% vs 16.8% on the Churchview website
