Vinomofo Wine Deals

Would be very interested if it was. Are you certain? 2013 isn't on their website and I cant find any info on it winning an award.

Vinomofo says literally just won, their 2013 Reserve Chardonnay won at Yarra Valley wine show and wine companion details all match up.

Scratches out a fine existence. It seems slim at first but it builds and blossoms as it travels through the mouth, its richest or loudest point reserved for the finish. Grapefruit, chalk, milk products and a flush of brilliant white peach. Its best, arguably, is yet to come.

Interesting. Would be good if it is Yering Station. Not sure I'd call them a boutique producer though - 5 Red Star winery, which VM usually highlights.

They say literally won but didn't say it won, so hoping it is too.

The other bit that puzzles me is that it's marked as a restock. I would have thought there's be more chatter about someone like Yering Station being offered.

Edit: Witchmount's been offered before at $38 -> $11.40 (page 264 or something). Fits with the nay nay clue I guess. If I were a betting man I'd put my money on Witchmount over Yering Station

**NEWSFLASH! This little ripper literally just won a gold medal and a trophy at an Australian wine show!**

'This' little ripper? Yes the Yering RESERVE just won an award but this couldn't be the reserve, the reserve is like over $100?

Yes I would bet Witchmount over Yering. Although it is $32 on their website, not $38 as displayed.

I cracked a 2012 GL Shiraz tonight and have decanted it since 6pm... If I leave it for tomorrow afternoon do I need to cover it? Should I put it in the fridge? Not a bad drop from the fo :)

I opened one yesterday, did not decant just a couple of glasses from the bottle. Screw cap back on, none tonight as going to a Christmas bash but will finish tomorrow. It will keep that long. A very nice drop too I might add.

Not confirmed by anyone:

Mt Avoca Black Block

#6408

5 Star, $35 on producer website though

I believe someone in the last month had one of these and liked it. I also think that they thought(say that with a mouth full of peanuts) they were getting the mt avoca estate, but the back block arrived.

Another person loved their merlot.

I bought a case of their estate cabernet, had one bottle, and it was beautiful.

So if pedigree is your thing, buy it.

That person could have been me as both apply. Found the Shiraz a little tight, maybe needs opening up a bit. The odd thing though was that the bottle shape was different from Mount Avoca's website. Agree with Beefarmer, the Estate Cab Sav was beautiful.

With this and the Glenlofty it seems there's good wines at great value to be had from the Pyrenees.

Any value on this one?
Brokenwood looks right, but not sure on a value basis. I tried some (can't remember the year) at the winery a few years ago and remember not being impressed (the shiraz was great). Also not great pedigree on a points only basis (at least not at $22/bottle). I also note Halliday's quote for the 2014: "its pinots will always be hale and hearty, but Tasmania, Mornington Peninsula and Yarra Valley shouldn't feel threatened."

Then again, I get the sense you have to pay a premium for any half-decent pinot!

Bear in mind also that Halliday is a MASSIVE Brokenwood fan since his early wine drinking days, but I'd tend to agree. Some nice / interesting pinots can come out of areas other than those cooler climate ones mentioned, but mostly those 3 areas are the best for AUS pinot.
