Vinomofo Wine Deals

Aplogises if it has already been posted but does anyone have any info on the following black market deals

Black Market Shiraz 2015 Pyrenees RRP $42

Black Market Shiraz 2015 Heathcote RRP $36

Black Market Durif 2015 Alpine vallyes RRP $36

Any help or steering in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I think he Heathcote Shiraz is Gapsted Limited Release. My in laws bought recently and were unimpressed - they gave me a bottle but I haven't tried

Is anyone else having trouble with the vinomofo site? Some parts are ok and some parts are squashed together and unreadable. Tried laptop and desktops.

Thanks for letting me know I am not the only one. I have updated; refreshed; safe mode; etc and nothing makes a difference. Thanks AnonymousCoward as its frustrating not knowing whats wrong unless you are in or know IT.

My 'Premium Black Market Shiraz +1 (Lineup 2)' Mixed Dozen arrived today.

It is two bottles each of,

Blue Pyrenees Estate 2012 Cab Sav 68%,Merlot 22%,Malbec 8%, and wait for it, Shiraz 2%

Lou Miranda Estate Golden Lion Barossa Valley Shiraz 2014

Rosemount Estate Little Berry McLaren Vale GSM 2014

Mount Avoca Back Block Pyrenees Shiraz 2014

Ulithorne McLaren Vale Familia Shiraz 2015

McLaren Vale Associates McLaren Vale Four Score Grenache 2014

I had originally ordered on 18 June a 'Premium Black Market Reds Dozen' @ $159, but despite several confusing messages 'it's shipped/it will ship/its delayed' eventually someone rang me from Vinomofo advising it would not ship, and I could have a refund,
or,
take the new Shiraz dozen,"which is actually better", now costing $165, but I could have it at the same price plus a $20 apology credit.

Fair enough. 12 quaffers at $11.60 each. Beats shopping at BWS.

The fact that they tried to sell you on this being better than the original deal is what's wrong with the FO these days in my opinion. Some of these I haven't personally tried, but the comments I've seen about the Lion, Berries, Familia...at least they gave you the $20 credit. As I predicted, Berries appearing in just about every mixed reds case...welcome to the modern day FO.

Some people might like that style - Woolworths keeps getting Chris Ringland to make that "CR" label every year as well, and Woolies are not in the business of losing money. I think you should give up on this one-man crusade, or take it somewhere else, because it's getting little tiring reading about it every other day. Let's try to stick to VM deals...

You might want to research Masters before making that Woolies claim. ;) I sold my shares for very good reason.

Too true (hate their threesomes of two pretty ordinary wines to get a knockdown on the one bottle you really want!) Be interested to hear what you think of the Little Berries and the Ulithorne (I could tell you what I think of them but curious to get another point of view)...

I'm a big fan of Mike Press. He markets his wines at an RRP that is the same as 60% off for the others, at the end of the day it's similar what comes out of your wallet...

I've no issue with the pricing, it seems pretty darned cheap to me but I just expected more from the hype about the shiraz being built on a large frame when it really didn't knock my socks off, the Moppity was a bit the same as was the Linke shiraz none of which lived up to their advertised boldness/gravitas.

I'd be particularly interested in your thoughts on the Redman.

I got a straight case of the Petaringa and thought it was quite marvellous at the price point (obviously not the Redman but they have made some great reds).

Yes apologies, it was uncalled for and not very cool at all, people do not deserve to be spoken to that way. Sorry.

That's perfectly OK, I'm not THAT hard to get along with ;)

They're getting out of that business last time I checked... :)

Read mixed reviews of the Redman. They winery has pedigree, and the wine itself medals and some decent reviews. And then there's others saying it's awful. I'm a bit surprised by the wide variety of opinions, and wondering where the truth lies :)

I guess I'm referring to it on a historical basis as they have made some very solid Coonawarra reds in days gone by but I'm not as familiar with the current crop so to speak, some of these wineries have their moment in the sun and then pass on into mediocrity unfortunately.

My post was about a VM 'deal'...which is what this thread is about. What's my crusade, giving feedback about VM deals?

I just recently bought the Hatter and posted about it, so how about you lose the attitude and actually do what you preach - stick to the purpose of the thread. No need for your post trying to parent.

I probaly have to come clean and say that I like reds that stand up and smack you in the face (even if it is with a freshly laundered hand towel) something like the Browns of Padthaway 'T' Trellis shiraz for example, but then I'm happy to go with a Kalleske Clarry's GSM or even the Landhaus the Sinner, I like a bit of come hither in the glass and not have to go chasing it!

Woolies problem was having a non retail person running the show. They cut costs and did not keep the customer focus that made them good. Check the reports by Dow Jones and Masters was a total stuff up. No staff with experience. now after that lets get back to wine and Vinomfo. Too early in the morning so I better stick to an espresso. Cheers

I reckon the Heathcote shiraz maybe a Chalmers shiraz........the Arturo. I bought a case last year, and knocked off three to four quickly, not that they were anything outstanding. A little simple, tangy and now as I type, I remember sending the winery a note commenting on their vino and mentioning that it tasted like there was something else in it. Strike me lucky as the reply came back with a two percent addition of a grape that I cannot remember. Not viognier or anything obvious. So leaving the wine for about 6 months, and feeling a little disillusioned, I cracked another and my. had it changed. This time I was very impressed. In a short space of time, it had settled, and had dare I say it a slight wow factor. I really couldn't believe the transformation and I now think fondly of the the others resting away. For what it's worth, I was told that a new vintage was flowing thru the Fo and it was going to be a good one, but I may have missed it. You know, sometimes you get stung following up on a case of a new vintage when the newbie just doesn't do it for you. There's another pat on the back for the Fo's return policy.

Still playing up for me unfortunately.
