Vinomofo Wine Deals

I'm going to need to change my card holdings .... only managed 8 x $30 credits from AMEX:(

I have no idea on todays Pinot but I recall one around this price a while ago that was from the Hand Picked range so maybe worth a look there to see if any of the stats match

Opened the Parous Shiraz Mataro 14 tonight. It's not a bad wine, but personally I found it quite unremarkable. I only got 2 bottles as part of a split, and I won't be ordering more. Definitely nothing wrong for the price paid ($9), but no chance at the RRP.

Got a 1/2 case on it's way, not what I wanted to hear :(

We all inhabit different taste worlds WandD so don't be too dissilusioned before the imminent arrival. Sometimes, just like a movie on the silver screen we are given too many negative preconceptions that unduly pre influence us. Go with the flow, cook.up a piece of nice tucker and savour. We know already with the m component that it's not going to be as heavy as you like, but sometimes a little bit of Tom Petty goes down nicely instead of Metallica.

Looking forward to your comments.

Enjoyed the music analogy & I agree Beefarmer, wine is fascinating because of individual evolving tastes...

I remember the 1st Hares Chase Ironscraper I quaffed, couldnt understand the hype...stroked the beard in deep thought...second bottle I got it and am now hooked...am also learning that travel shock is a real thing and needs to be considered with new purchases...

Re Parous...its VM price sits in Pepperjack territory...would take Mr Head's juice every time, maybe with the Velvet Undergound self titled vinyl & a slab of Maggie's Beers most rustic pate...

Certainly, sage words BF, I've been caught out before with preconceived conceptions only to have them overturned quite delightfully both in the glass and on the silver screen, I shall remain open-minded before perusing the Parous, possibly slipping some Nick Drake rather than Tom Waits on the turntable (yes I kept my vinyl!)...

Having not partaken of Mr Head's juice before I'm a newbie but comforting to read another positive comment, wine like art and music is a matter of personal taste that's for sure, the Parous might be akin to Nick Drake rather than John Martyn (to whom I have an interesting connection) to be savoured with a Bruny Island Cheese Co washed rind Oen ("...cow's milk cheese, washed in Pinot Noir before being wrapped in vine leaves to be carefully matured.") I like the VU association!

Just reiterating, I thought the wine was fine, just more of a quaffer rather than anything special. Expectations do raise when you see marketing notes that include "This may be the best wine I have ever made" from Mr. Head with a $40 price tag. I did not find the 'brooding' or 'complexity' as stated...more of a lighter easy to drink wine. I asked myself a simple question - this or the Mav Twins which I found a comparable style. You already know the answer...
