Vinomofo Wine Deals

I got a couple of bottles in a Wine direct mixed dozen and was completely underwhelmed, the wine had been hyped up so substantially (not to mention the purported RRP) that I was expecting the duck's guts, and like you, won't be seeking it out again...

Agreed. I thought there was definitely some quality hidden underneath its presently brutal tannic layer, it'd take a brave soul to stash a case away for the required decade though. I really feel for anyone who's paid retail for this.

Hi all. I'm after a good value Cab and the 'fo seems to have a couple of BM deals at the moment, and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on them?

https://www.vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/black-market-deal-cabernet-merlot-2014-26110
which I think is Swings and Roundabouts Cab Merlot

https://www.vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/black-market-deal-cabernet-sauvignon-2014-26298
which I think is Mr Riggs Outpost Coonawarra Cabernet (link is to the wrong vintage tho)
Mr. Riggs - Products - 2015 Outpost Coonawarra Cabernet

And this one:

which I haven't been able to identify. Thought it might be Katnook Estate - the price matches, but I'm not sure if the awards do

Any thoughts on any of the above (including what they are, if I am incorrect) would be appreciated.

The Artisan Aged Release Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Rating: 95
Seductive, complex and immensely attractive, the wine shows dark fruit, cigar box, dried flower and cedar characters with nuances of vanilla and mixed spice notes. The palate is beautifully proportioned and styled, offering generous mouthfeel and delightful fruit flavours, brilliantly supported by savoury complexity. The wine shows fabulous maturity with seamlessly integrated chalky tannins. At its best: now to 2022. AU$40.00. www.allegiancewines.com.au. March 2017.

Thanks. That looks like a pretty good deal, and other reviews seem reasonable, but I have had an Allegiance shiraz from 'fo before and was very unimpressed. Are their cabs better?

I don't know from personal experience.

Most of the Allegiance Shiraz I've tried (not that many) seem soft and dilute, not really of great interest to me, although the Unity 2014 is quite a decent wine at the VM price.

The colour is medium ruby to brick-red, showing some development. The bouquet is also showing early development with earthy, leather and toasty aromas; a trace of tar. Quite complex and mellow. Very good flavour and balance: fresh and clean, lively and bright, but also showing some attractive developed characters. No mint. Very smart wine indeed.

Fascinating to observe how traffic has faltered and nearly stalled on a number of threads since the "revamp", I guess it will pick up but it doesn't feel like quite the same place to hang-out:( (even the "smilies" feel slightly OTT)....

Maybe the app functionality is a make or break for some? I must admit I observed/noticed the same over the weekend

Agreed; nowhere as user friendly as old platform. If it ain't broken dont fix it!!! Its like the soul has been sapped out of it.

Would this $40 to $15, 2016 McLaren Vale GSM be Haselgrove switch?
Price is right unless you are with wine selectors. Black horse is usually attached to Haselgrove no mention of any of the usual references. Tread cautiously.. Cheers Rug
