Vinomofo Wine Deals

You going to take a punt? Good price if it is. Wondering why this one is 70% off though
Yeah, I'm a bit confused as the Beechworth isn't that much of a discount. I'm trying to stay away from the big green "Buy" button, but it's difficult. I *think* my wife would forgive me..?

Has anyone tasted any of the Anvers yet? The Langhorne Cab 2010 is calling me... Seems to have a few medals under it's belt, and 92 Halliday points, so thought I might give it a shot at $9 a pop. Thoughts?

The only thing putting me off the $12.60 one being the a Jamsheed is that it seems the Reds in the Jamsheed are all corks yet VM states this as screwcap.

Yeah, I noticed that. I think it could be the one little thing to throw us off the scent. Seeing as they usually have Black Market deals on with the same brands they're stocking, and Victorian Shiraz is relatively rare (well, at least compared to Barossa), and it matches up in every other way, I think it's pretty likely. But don't blame me if it's not!

If your seriously into buying the Secret Deal stuff may I recommend this site
http://redbigot.info/RBG.htm

It's a paid subscription but worth every cent IMO.
(I am not affiliated in any way with them just a keen lurker there)
I suspect a few of us are.

Yep, I'm a member, a founding member in fact. Totally worth every cent, aside from the identification of secret deals they do also from time identify other super specials, e.g. I bought Carnival of Love 2010 for $30 when it was selling $100 normally (genuinely normally not inflated RRP). The 2012 was 2nd rated wine in the world, so great pedigree.

2010 Carnival of Love WAS a secret deal at Vinomofo about 2 yrs ago, rather than an 'other super special' as you call it. At that time it was around $80 at DM.

Since then Vinomofo has featured several other wines from Mollydooker.

my only thoughts are that one of my favourite labels, lake breeze comes from the area and these Folletts never make a bad wine. their cabernet is always very good and their bernoota blend is even better. at 9 a bot for a retail of 30, you can't go wrong. in fact, for 9 bucks for a bot retailling at 17 would be good as well. 2010 was a good year, even though i thought 2009 there was a bit better. have a stab ! you would hardly expect it to be a quaffer surely.

Which one is the Lake Breeze? The Black Market Cab Sav which Halliday rated 92?

mof_ SECRET DEAL Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 $25 down to $12.50 and described as:

'Why is it that whenever we get insanely good deals we’re in between pay weeks? By insanely good, I obviously mean a 95 point McLaren Vale Cabernet from a super well known 5 red star producer at half price. I want it, I’m broke and I’m completely blaming mof_ Buyer Kate for this. The struggle is real.

While I sweep my emotional baggage under the rug and try and piece myself back together, I can happily reveal that this producer is a big deal - they are known for producing some of the best reds in McLaren Vale. Overflowing with dark, fleshy blackberries, rich dark plums, peppercorns, black olives and smooth, velvety mocha notes, this is rock ’n’ roll Cabernet and it easily deserved its 95 point score from Halliday. Obviously I’m not allowed to give you too much more information, but honestly, ask yourself, “When was the last time I got a 95 point Cabernet from a 5 red star producer for only $12.50 a bottle?”'

Possibly 2012 Shingleback Davey Estate Cabernet Sauvignon?

Any ideas what the 2014 Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc is?

Described as:

Avid fans of the the Adelaide Hills and the fabulous Sauvignons that they produce need to step to the front of the line. Let’s give NZ Savvy a miss for the moment and sink our teeth into this crunchy and fresh 95 point vino that comes from some very famous and secretive friends in the Hills.
Overflowing with sprightly and vibrant notes of crunchy green apples, lemons blossoms, freshly shucked peas and cut grass, this is a killer Sauvignon Blanc which showcases just what Australia is capable of. If you’re tired of NZ Sauvignon (You know? The cats wee and bell peppers), this is the perfect vacation for your palate and you won’t even need a passport. Raking in a cool 95 points from Sir Halliday and being placed in his Top 100 wines, you know you’re in for not only a good drop but at 50% off, it’s a good buy too.

The shingleback is 96 points and they say this is 95 so it's either a Maximus or Kangarilla Rd. My guess is Kangarilla Rd as I'm pretty sure they had another from them last week.

Wine companion says 96 points, 14% alc and $23. Fox Gordon and Kangarilla Road are close as well but dont totally match

I understand that there is a way to tell what secret wine you have bought once you have your Nexday order number - the problem is that the tracking form on their website doesn't work for me! Very interested to know what my 2010 Shiraz is (I think the Anvers)

Yup, your nexday tracking page will show what the wine is. Happy to see that my Mad Hatter is on the way. It wont show until the shipment has been created.
