Zanzara, was that J/Y?
My J flight is not till Jun next year, have to wait and see what they will provide for ADL - BNE 9.15am flight.

Thought I’d start a new thread for comment on people’s thoughts of VA 3.0s reveal today. Key changes:

- CNS, DRW, MKY lounge to close with CBR under review.
- Buy on board now no snacks but free coffee and water. No word on happy hour.
- Business Class product under review for reveal 2021
- Wifi TBA
- More investment in technology and airport self service.

Ready for take-off: Virgin Australia Group soars out of administration, unveils future direction
With the loss of the CNS lounge, I flew my last CNS-BNE with VA last night, which was rather sentimental. I have owned a business in Cairns for 6 years and this very regular route for me has been enjoyable, for the friendly staff in the relaxing lounge as well as the friendly and capable cabin crew, for the most part, out of Cairns. My final trip with VA on this route was memorable for;
-lovely cabin supervisor and crew
-average snackbox
-plenty of wine from the bottle, much appreciated

Business class got something in a cardboard box....
True, for a while it was a granola bar and sometimes no wine loaded on the flight.

Now it is snack box with Jax chickpea, lavosh crackers with salsa, brownies and small choc square. But, wine in the bottle is back baby. Yeah! Haha

-ars*hole couple from the GC in 1 deltafox; can I say Camilla Fat-tan never works, however much it costs! Thanks for the memories, hilarious; sorry I had your seat in alpha, lol.
Tee hee, a fight in J of all things, proverbially speaking.

From what they’ve disclosed publicly Virgin 2’s new owners are not that interested in market share (apart from what is required to drive enough economies of scale from a capital utilisation perspective). They are also not as interested in corporate frequent flyers which I’m sure AFF is dominated with :)

They are interested in making some money, with the eventual sale of the business and to do that they need to demonstrate a viable business model to a prospective buyer.

I suspect they would prefer a much smaller profitable business that had potential to scale up to sell on, whenever that time comes.

Half a cup of water or Just Juice Apple or Orange Juice and a granola bar (just like before) nothing else available at all. BOb not sorted yet.

Wow you're lucky... last week Apple or Orange juice wasn't in the mix.

Given those Just Juice bottles are about $1-2 for a 1L bottle, I see no reason why they couldn't add either coke/pepsi/sprite etc which cost about the same per litre.

So, now they shower you with the goodies? 😉

Air Asia?

I actually think there would be strong synergies and similarities. Give VA2 a good feed in from Asia too.

Air Asia's long haul AOC/subsidiaries is currently under financial trouble atm. The Indonesian long haul arm was just recently liquidated and there's speculation the remaining Malaysia and Thai arms may be downsized or closed to concentrate primarily on domestic and short haul international (which is where most of the Air Asia group income comes from)

Edit: On another note, Air Asia group's order of A321neo and A321neoXLRs may enable them to continue some Australian service should they decide to disband AirAsiaX Long Haul.
The A321neos could reach Perth/Darwin (serviced already by the short haul A320ceos/neos before COVID) and the XLRs could reach Cairns and possibly Gold Coast.

OT, but with a 4000nm range the A321neos could reach anywhere in Australia, in fact the XLRs range, 4700nm, almost gets it to AKL. (and another fun fact anything that can reach Gold Coast from KUL would also reach Melbourne as it’s closer!)

Want to ring and see if I can use my WP upgrades for an upcoming flight - and then I see the call centre opens at 09:00. I can wait until then of course but surely hours used to be longer? It's another small sign VA has been cut through the fat and muscle, well into the bone. I really hope they become a decent alternative (I'm not sure I can even call it competitor) to QF again, rather than a cheap and nasty JQ equivalent. And we know there's no way VA will out-JQ JQ.

I still think I'd rather a measly offering, even cup noodles in J, and give them time to get back on their feet (as much as they can) rather than turn into Tigerair or worse yet liquidate completely. A weak QF alternative is better than no alternative at all. I'll try to remember that when I fly in YX shortly, and without the lounge in either direction...
