Of course you are right. Thankfully we are blessed with rather short term memories for negative experiences (disasters and tragedies excluded). Perhaps, maybe possibly...one day

Did you explore other flight time options?
Next day or day after 1pm flight?
Surely better than 1am dep.

At 72 your not working so extra day or 2 wouldn't hurt.

What dates were these flights for?

I guess you are not elderly. Ofc we explored other options, many in fact. Other dates, other airlines, flying to other destinations. We ultimately still took a 1 am flight with Jetstar, but it was straight through to Brisbane, and not via Melbourne , that saved a couple of hours
