Yep - hope so

We're going to put 2 Sydney to Johannesburg (via Singapore) flights through in Sept, and those along with a few other bits and pieces should get me to the holy grail of 1000 SC's :) Doubt I'll have any chance of keeping it - but that means 2 years of benefits (1 year Plat 1 year Gold)

That's fine if on an SQ flight number, which is what I said BTW. However, a VA codeshare flight number would be different, well that was my speculation, because VA actually give points for discount economy fares. Unlike SQ. I believe this is the situation with VA codeshares on EY.

I think they will have the same exclusions as SQ. See Status Earn Fare Class| Velocity Frequent Flyer

^ V Promo fare classes (T, V, Q) are ineligible for Status Credits earn when travelling on Virgin Australia international long haul services operated by Singapore Airlines.
PS
The VFF Earning Status Credits page has fully updated with SQ routes in the calculator.

If SCs are calculated per sector on long haul, that'd be fabulous. It's a difference of 320 SCs, which is a welcome addition, if I get them :D

They are DEFINITELY calculated on a per sector basis for Long Haul International.

Anyone know the cheapest shortest sc earning sq flights ex SIN :)

According to Airline Route.net (via AusBT) the VA codeshare routes have been logged in the GDS timetable. Reservations are expected to begin shortly.

[h=1]Virgin Australia Expands Codeshare Service with Singapore Airlines[/h]
by JL
Update at 0800GMT 15MAR12
Virgin Australia has implemented phase 3 of Codeshare partnership with Singapore Airlines, which now sees Virgin Australia International unit’s “VA” code appearing on additional Singapore Airlines between Australia and Singapore, and beyond.
New Codeshare routes cover:

Singapore – Adelaide
Singapore – Beijing
Singapore – London Heathrow
Singapore – Melbourne
Singapore – Shanghai Pu Dong
Singapore – Sydney
VA already codeshares on SQ’s Singapore – Perth service. Singapore – Brisbane’s SQ operation does not carry VA code as VA codeshares with ETIHAD on this sector. Not all SQ service listed above carries VA code.

Reservation for the new flights to open shortly, but already appeared in GDS timetable listing.

Interesting to read in the above post that "VA already codeshares on SQ's Singapore-Perth service". The Perth-Singapore route shows up on the Interactive Map on Virgin's website along with info that the route is operated by Singapore Airlines, but if you click on "Book Now", you just get a recurring "internal error" and it cannot find flights. When trying to find flights from Virgin's home page, Singapore does not even come up in the list of destination options from Perth, so it looks like reservations for these PER-SIN codeshare flights haven't actually opened yet either?

I don't know what the go with SIN is, but if you try to book PER-LHR you will see the codeshares.

Whatever the issue is, you can't get around it by using another site. I'm booked on a VA codeshare on SQ PER-SIN-PER that was done via expedia.

Yes, have just had a look and the PER-LHR ones come up OK. Have had another try for PER-SIN - Singapore is still not a destination option for Perth from the home page, only when using the route map to search for flight dates, but still constantly getting "oops, an internal error has occurred" no matter what dates I put in. Odd that chrisb could book the PER-SIN codeshare through Expedia and yet it can't be booked on Virgin's own website!!

If someone else gets a chance, maybe they could give it a try through the Virgin website and let me know if the same thing happens for them for this particular route? I tried the same thing through Velocity, and whilst SIN does come up as an option, it just keeps telling me there are no flights available, regardless of what dates I put in. Thanks!

Virgin Codeshare on Singapore Airlines, MEL-SIN $1117, and that's as far as you can go in Asia. Can't go to Hong Kong on a codeshare or booking through virgin.
Singapore Air MEL-(SIN Stopover)- HKG $1046 (approx $100 more for points earning) on their website.

Looks like it's still better to book direct with SA.

I'm travelling on a Singapore Airlines Redumption ticket on SQ. I was wondering as DJ Plat, would I get any of the FF benefits?
Reading the virgin website, it does not differentiate between commercial and Redumption bookings.

I emailed VA re the problem I was having with not being able to get PER-SIN flights up on their website, and they advise that these flights are currently unable to be booked via the website, but hopefully this should be available in the next few weeks. I could of course book through the SQ site but as the flights we want will probably be after the change re status credits (eligible sectors) comes in about mid-August, I'll wait to book through VA.
