Some domestic VA bookings have "Virgin Aust Intl for virgin Aust" when you click on the flight number.

Is this code for the old 3 seat row with middle row blanked? Or what Seatguru calls Prem Economy?

Virgin Aust Intl for Virgin Aust

When booking Va domestic flights clicking on the flight number reveals the above..

Is this code for the old Prem economy, ie the old 3 seat row with middle seat blanked out?

However the new J transtasman seats might be avail by end of March and may be worth trying out?

I understand that all the old aircraft that had PY have now been converted to J

Re: Virgin Aust Intl for Virgin Aust

Additionally I wonder if these flights are eligible for UpgradeMe Points/$$/comp

I note that usually to be eligible for upgrades flights must be marketed and operated by Virgin Australia and issued on VA ticket stock with ticket number beginning with "795".

Re: Virgin Aust Intl for Virgin Aust

its likely a tag flight operated by crew that then continues to somewhere like Bali (my mel-syd today shows the same), it wouldnt usually indicate anything about equipment with perhaps the exception of trans tasman but i'd imagine you'd be highly unlikely to get a bird with PE barring unforeseen equipment issues that force a last minute swap out..

That's about which airline is operating the flight. Get it numerous times on my domestic flights. See this changing multiple times on my bookings via notification from the My Flights app, example below. I assume it's some sort of accounting thing due to their structure.

Nothing to do with seat configuration as far as I can tell. Upgrade me eligibility is similar determined by fare purchased on a VA flight rather than subtleties of this type.

Yes, understand all that, but my OP was whether it was also subtly referring to the airplanes which had the old PE seats and also whether it affected the UpgradeMe in any way.

Your experience suggests upgradeMe is not affected??

can you please see whether your e-ticket code starts with "795"

I think I've stated that it is not a reference to configuration. IME

Upgrade me eligibility is determined by fare class. Provided you meet the criteria I can't see how this is an issue. But I don't use upgrade me.

Yes that is a 795 ticket. I've seen this on multiple bookings. All booked direct with VA for domestic flights. I'll assume they're all 795 tickets.

Re: Virgin Aust Intl for Virgin Aust

I've been seeing changes like these every few days on some of my trans-Tasman and domestic flights. I believe its to do with Virgin realigning which operating structures their aircraft are operation under - probably because they are getting rid if the NZ AOC.

Re: Virgin Aust Intl for Virgin Aust

It has to do with which air operators certificate the aircraft operating that service is registered to. Most of the VH-YI* aircraft are registered to VA international. Some of the former VANZ (ZK-PB*) aircraft are on the VA international AOC aswell.

Yep I get all that. However the OP was about the interior seating differences between a VA Intl 737 and Va dom 737 aircraft and also the UPgradeMe applicability re Va intl flights flying domestically.

OP query has been answered.

Re: Virgin Aust Intl for Virgin Aust

I see this often these days for MEL/SYD and MEL/BNE. No difference in terms of upgrades or seat layout etc... You won't notice a different, there is no difference.

There is a thread somewhere here about this but not sure where.

They are a just the difference between the planes that travel internationally and just domesticity

What that means to you and me is the VA International planes have the raft in the ceiling and in the overhead locker on the ABC side of the plane further limiting overhead luggage space.

They are a mix of Sky interior and the old ones.

However, there is no difference in the business class and they have the 2 rows of 2-2
