This still causing the draining of battery issue on Android devices?
Check your APPS running to see if it appears when never activated.....

I had this problem too, I think on my jailbroken device I had to install xconn and then it went away (or that might have been Tenplay video app)

I have tried it on both pristine and jailbroken devices, and on iPhone and iPad, all to the same effect. I'll try xconn and/or Tenplay to see if they help. Thanks.

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

I don't know if this is possible, but could VA offer the in flight wireless entertainment in the lounges. Wireless is password protected and so many times I try and watch a movie on board and the short domestic routes I do mean I do not see the end of the movie. I spend a reasonable time in lounges prior to flights so would love to start watching a movie in the lounge and finish it in flight.

I thought the original intention was that you could finish your movie in the lounge also. Never tried it myself, but I agree with you. if they foist this form of IFE on us, than at least let us use it to it's fullest. Let's face it, the wait before a flight is part of the commute really so why not? I doubt too many would want to drive to an airport, park and then sit outside the lounge to watch a free movie , hoping the password hadn't changed recently!

i was sure that was the intention as well, and I seem to recall that was part of the fanfare when the system was launched. It would certainly be a bonus if that was possible. Does any of the other carriers using the Lufthansa system offer this?

What really grinds my gears is stepping off a wifi aircraft and connecting on to a non wifi and getting the tablets and they don't have even one movie the same. Or getting off a wifi 737 only to find the movie you were half way through isn't showing on the A330's with Red and vice versa. I know it is a first world problem but about the only time I get to watch a movie is on long flights and I'm not one for downloading them beforehand to my iPad. To be able to connect and resume would be tremendous.

Cheers,
Boof

Good idea and good intention; from a technical point of view there's no problem either.

I'm guessing the issue is with licensing with the movie industry (and TV and music industries)...

I have sent feedback via VA website so let's see if any reply.

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

Has anyone had any luck scoring an operational wireless on an E190?

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

Got told a few weeks ago by FA that they aren't installed on e190's yet.

Just tried the IFE for the first time in awhile, now I have actually found it available. Regardless of how popular the route I always seemed to miss out, it was starting to feel like a myth. Sadly, not all good news. I couldn't find a single latest release movie. Would prefer a system that at least had new stuff available.

They seemed to manage this with the handout tablets. But not now there is a simply updated central system !

There definitely needs to be a lot more content that's updated far more frequently.

It'll never happen how that thy've got a deal with Lufthansa Tech, but they could/should have repurposed the Foxtel Play streaming service for their IFE. A nice suite of live tv (general entertainment, sports and news) with heaps of on demand content (everything from Seinfeld to Real Housewives :P)

Anyone get it to work on BB10?

I've used Snap to install and while the Map, Reading Content and Music all run OK, TV just won't. Tries to load the content and the app fails ... plus having to relaunch the app about 4 times on a SYD-MEL even when listening to an album ... can't say I'm won-over!

Regards,

BD

Pardon? This is the latest and greatest in ife, which we all have to endure. Don't you know anything. The reboot of the content a 1/2 dozen times during a program is just part of the entertainment. Cheesh some people are hard to please! ;)

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

The Shrek family are going to CNS tomorrow and everyone's fingers and toes are crossed that we have it onboard. iPads have all downloaded the app and are ready.
We are also looking forward to stretching our legs out in row 3 :D

Re: Virgin Australia streaming IFE

Had E190 tonight Mel -Syd with it fitted.

Doh. Just started a separate thread reporting this. Mods please feel free to merge.

A thought about content: the content needs to be better matched to the stage lengths and ideally searchable by time. No point in watching a movie on a 1 hr flight. It is difficult to know as you are browsing what you will be able to watch with the time you've got. However once it is available gate to gate this will get easier.

BB10 is your problem. Worst phone/OS ever!! I can't stand my Z10. Nothing works on the bloody thing

Not true ... BB Travel is far better at keeping me up-to-date on VA delays than VA themselves!!

BD

Fair enough. I don't use that, I use Tripit Pro. I'll look into it now though!
