Virgin Australia and Qatar Announce Strategic Partnership

Not that there was any doubt but I can confirm VA reward tickets flying QR, with QF FF in the booking, extend the normal oneworld status benefits.

I flew QR for the first time today, SIN-DOH in Y, received lounge access to SATS and received a personal welcome on board by the cabin manager. Didn’t seem like many other emeralds on the flight because I didn’t see her welcoming anyone else (I was in second row of Y).

They also took my meal order before take off (a different FA), again this wasn’t done for anyone else in my area.

Overall I thought the flight was pretty good (noting Y is Y) and I’d happily fly them again, as opposed to SQ who I also flew for the first time - they were dreadful in Y and I don’t want to ever fly with them again. I’m sure they’re great in J.
question on this - I'm due to fly out on VA reward ticket on QR flight. I had my QFF (SG) in booking and was appearing on qantas app. 2 days out from flight it has disappeared from qantas app and I can't change the FF number from VFF in QR manage booking. Did the same thing happen to you? and wonder if i can just change it at the airport instead.

I don’t remember sorry. I would call QR and check.

Looks to be more than a strategic partnership:

Qatar Airways has confirmed its interest in Virgin Australia after months of speculation the Gulf carrier was seeking a stake in the airline as part of expansion plans.
Sharing a stage with Qantas chief executive Vanessa Hudson at an event to mark 25 years of the Oneworld airline alliance in Dubai, Qatar CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer said Virgin Australia was “a very strong partner” and they were having discussions.

While sharing a stage with VH?

Looks like they’ll get it one way or another, either own metal or VA starting services to DOH on “leased” widebodies from their new owner…
I look forward to our ME overlords putting QSuites on Transcon flights 😝

NGL, if they get a Qsuite to JP and fly from another city (maybe one with QF F lounge on QR codeshare) I'd be pretty tempted.

QR could lease VA the ex-VA 777’s they operate.
QR has 3 of the ex-VA 77Ws, all still in VA configuration.
Those x3 ex-VA 77Ws at QR could easily slot back for the 2nd BNE-DOH and BNE-HND if the long-running speculation of QR acquiring a stake in VA eventuates.

QR use these 77's?
