Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

and this is not in jest unlike my last post.
I was going to say, that did not look like a Virgin business class meal! Emirates, maybe?

I thought I must have been missing something. As it's not a VA meal, I'm not sure why you've posted it here saying it's from VA535?

Virgin PR team have some spare time šŸ˜‚

So is it true no more spirits in J on VA just like QF?
Business Class (complimentary):
Gordons Gin, Jim Bean Bourbon White Label, Bundaberg Rum, Johnnie Walker Scotch Red Label and Smirnoff Vodka

Economy Class (buy onboard):
all of the above for sale ($8.50), plus includes Johnnie Walker Scotch Black Label ($10.00)

I asked on a recent Business Class flight if I could pay the $1.50 gap between Red and Black Labels to upgrade my Scotch, and was told no. :(

Thatā€™s kind of ridiculous that they wouldnā€™t make the better one available in J yet sell it in Y.

Did they offer to sell you the Black Label for $10? I assume you can still buy things on the retail menu as there are menus with prices listed in the J seat pockets.

Yes, you can buy from the retail menu at full price. (Although I did negotiate a better deal for one flight, as the Flight Leader was a Scotch drinker and empathised.)

Apparently, the person who organises the drinks from BNE HQ, let's just call him Nick(?), doesn't drink Scotch! And IME it has always been a problem for Virgin, getting Scotch right - when they first left the pre-mix Blues behind, they were selling Chivas down the back and pouring Red Label up the front

Eventually they got it right, and moved to Black Label up the front , so hopefully they will again, soon!

Just need someone to drink all the Red Label so they have to go and get some Black. Though I would assume their stock of Black in Y isn't enough to also cater for J.

SQ F I reckon, based on the salt and pepper shakers.

(Hmm, I think I need to go to the 'travel too much' thread!)

British Airways old F actually! Had the entire 17 seat cabin to myself which was a treat.

Had labelled it as VA535 for humour purposes which clearly missed the mark šŸ˜œ

Which BA aircraft had a 17 F config?
Did F extend to zone B?

First time in VA J for a while (BNE-CBR). Mushroom ravioli was quite good. 2 reds and a white loaded. No pic...

4/8 load in J. Y reasonably full.

VA J was more than half the cost of QF J and almost cheaper than QF Y... and better still, VA use B737s rather than the QF FIFO jets (B717s).

Lol if you think QF's 717's are FIFO jets then you need to experience some of the true FIFO fleet. In WA the QF A320's are just jetstar aircraft in disguise and the Fokkers aren't great either. VA's A320's are also shocking and I'd say the most uncomfortable seats I've ever flown on.
