Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

BNE-MEL, dinner time last weekend. Choices were truffled mac n cheese or green curry. Everyone else went for the curry, I chose the pasta so I could share with Mr 1yo; he would have inhaled an entire serve if he was entitled to one.
View attachment 285647 Wine was the St Hallet Faith. Pre departure bevvies included sparkling wine.
The pasta looks inviting ... especially the ratatouille like thing on top

Unfortunately after the service the crew left the galley and front dome light on making it very difficult to sleep and disappeared down the back. I dozed for about 2 hours and when I woke up had to wait about 30 mins before anyone walked past to get a glass of water from. Oh well. In the VA lounge now before my connecting flight and VA gold status.
Yes! I noticed this too (disappearing crew).

I used the call button on both my recent flights and the crew came up from the back in about 15 seconds. Very impressive!

I don't mind a bit of Faith and think it's a good choice at Virgin's price point. A fair amount of bang for your buck and while not overly interesting it's also non offensive which suits a broad audience.

I stuck to the bubbles on my recent flights (still no idea what it is as the details have never been offered) and had burgers in each direction - one might have been beef with relish and the other katsu. Both OK but too much bread, I ended up removing the top. The flight attendant thoughtfully put the relish on the side which I preferred with the cheese and crackers.
It's a mix of grant Burge petite bubbles which are on the way out and getting replaced with Yarra Burn.

It is! 😄

I'm not a fan at all of the brioche bun looks like it is??
Not a fan of Brioche (or "Hamburger [marketed] Buns") either as they are generally too sweet for my liking.

This wasn't Brioche (or at least it was not "sweet").

Chicken "Parmy" as announced by the FA on BNE-CNS.

Had to wait a while after ordering due to a medical issue down back - plate came out really hot with rather wilted brocollini°.

It was fine, but could see any ham as normal for a parmy.

Internet is terrible whereI am. Will upload image tomorrow.
The brioche sweet buns....
Sorry I don't mean to be making a pass at you either.
Ha! Sweet as in Sugary.🍩

Just like mine?

Some Bain intern probably named it :)
Something else I noticed possibly USA like, was the order taking of meal preferences being different when compared to what I had generally experienced on VA

On both of yesterday's flight they appeared to be taken based on status. Ex MEL, It was 1F (me, WP), 1D, 2D, 2F, 1A/C, 2A/C. Ex BNE it was less apparent but 1D/F (both WP), 1A/C, 2A/C, 2D/F.

Back in my *G days, flying First on UA this was de rigour.

On both of yesterday's flight they appeared to be taken based on status pairs. Ex MEL, It was 1F (me, WP), 1D, 2D, 2F, 1A/C, 2A/C. Ex BNE it was less apparent but 1D/F (both WP), 1A/C, 2A/C, 2D/F.

I have commented on this before and it happens far too much to just be “luck”. We often have our meal orders taken before others even when in Row 2

Breakfast flight from BNE-MEL.

PDB of water, juice or sparking water offered.

J was full with orders taken 1D,1F, 1C, 2A,2C,2D, 2F and 1A (they were elsewhere when orders taken). Sitting in 2D and 2F we were effectively last although we were both able to get our choice so this was fine.

Options were the Croque monsieur and waffles. Only one waffles left when our order taken. Not an issue as I wasn’t after waffles. The sandwich was fine and I didn’t find it difficult to cut as some have mentioned.

Pastry was toasted so that was a nice touch given it was a cool winter morning.

I had a few cups of tea but didn’t need any other snacks as we had a quick breakfast in lounge.

Another great experience in J on VA. At $299 for this sector it was excellent value.

MEL - SYD mid afternoon last week - The chicken salad.

BNK-SYD - This is the pearl cous cous salad with prosciutto which was the only meal option. It's a short flight so I can understand why there isn't a hot option.

I actually think both these dishes are very good. Virgin trying not to overcomplicate plane food.

I've flown a-lot in the past 10 days and have always had a good experience. A few cancelled flights but for the most part not too bad - an hour or two extra at airports. PDB each time and they've policed priority boarding and the business class rope! I was on that thing with the yellow seats again - that didn't have the divider of course but they still sent Y customers to the back of the plane!

My friend flew on it recently and took a photo - only to show me the bloke behind her with his foot on her armrest against the window...
Gross. It is a different flying experience. It's amazing what the interior fitout and livery can do to a flight.

Also AIRwin, I can assure you that wasn't my foot!
