Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Yesterday BNK-SYD. Orders taken row 1 A to F then row 2 A to F. Choice of two salads for pax in row 1: Pearl barely and prosciutto or “middle eastern”. Only the prosciutto remaining in row 2 which was fine by me as it was my preference. No photo but it was excellent!

The service was pleasant but no real engagement with pax and nothing above and beyond the solid basics.

VA962 BNE-SYD: (I think it was) mushroom gnocchi or some mustard chicken thing with potatoes and beans. 8/8 seats occupied. I was in 2F so expected to miss out on my first choice, however orders taken were 1D, 1F, 2D, 2F, 2A, 2C, 1A and 1C and served 1A-1F, then 2A-2F. I didn't drink as I had to drive myself back home and already had the PDB and drinks in the lounge, but the Cabin Manager did a great job of making sure my seatmate's glass of chardonnay was regularly topped up.

Also had this MEL-PER on Thursday night. Quite agreeable I think. As was the proactive top ups.

It’s the ‘new’ mustard chicken :) IIRC the previous version was sorta chopped chicken with mash and greens, this one is quite chunky, with roast (or fried) potato cubes. It was tasty!

Unfortunately not much rotation at the moment… same food ex SYD and MEL on the last four flights… either the gnocchi or mustard chicken. The salads and everything else seems to have gone.

The quiche was described as the non-vegetarian option, if someone could explain to me how that was the case I would appreciate it 😂
I think quiche is made with eggs and hence not vego ... ?? compared to the mushroom, feta bruschetta, which has no eggs and hence vego?

Another good Virgin flight MEL-BNE

Chicken with roast potatoes and beans.

I love the cheese and crackers but they should rotate that option a bit, have something different as the side, and have the cheese and crackers available as an option.

Cabin manager was good, the pilots did a good job avoiding the line of storms across NSW, seat belt sign on for a while but in the end probably wasn’t needed.

Oh I have requalifed Virgin gold for another year.

Same here=I did a three legger the other day and by third leg the Cheese and crackers wore a bit thin

Well order something off the pantry menu!!!! This isn't Oliver Twist or Qantas.... Virgin has "more" - just ask the CM  🧞‍♂️
Question - If the meal of our choice had ran out by the time the FA took my order - will the FA proactively offer items from the pantry or do we have to ask ? Reason I ask, in one my VA J flights, the vego choice had ran out and I was only offered a small bag of potato chips as a replacement, so to speak.

Well, I don't know, but on a flight last week I didn't feel like any of the options so I asked for a bag of chips, which turned out to be bottomless.

(and the cab sav was likewise (no shiraz)).

I imagine that if you had have asked for something from the pantry it would've been provided with a nice smile (unlike some other airlines, perhaps).

Well, actually, when the vego option had ran out, I didn't feel like eating anything else, so I didn't ask if there was anything else other than the chips ... Not that the non-availability put me down or something, just didn't feel like eating a meal..

When the FA told vego had ran out and she can offer the chicken schnitz. I said I'm a vego, so can't have chicken. And the FA "Oh, I'm sorry, in that case I can offer you potato chips" ... I declined the offer and kept having sparkling water ...
