Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Of course the Cheese and crackers packaging would have VIRGIN printed on it - they are locally made, and for a decent order packaging is done to order. Or show packaging as BEGA or whomever the actual maker is.

My point is such things ARE made locally and are less cost than ZERO Aussie content cheese or crackers and Virgin now uses.

They RETAIL near half the ZERO % Australia offering they now have.

For a company that's aiming to make profit with cutting costs and suggesting they produce their own packaging of cheese and crackers is absurd.

You may know about being a FA, but you clearly know little about marketing and retail packaging. :D

They are made NOW for Woolworths, Coles and IGA and doubtless others .. and Virgin too, if they want.

BEGA or whomever makes them LOCALLY, would be pleased to have THEIR name on it on all Virgin flights I am sure. Clever marketing for both companies.

And it would be at a cheaper cost, not higher cost.

Same with the wine, WHY NZ made is often an option has no merit.

All of us should BUY AUSTRALIAN when price and quality is similar, and certainly for such basic in flight items that are bought by YOUR company in vast quantity, that presently have ZERO Australian content.

I cannot see why you do not simply agree that a change might be at least worth looking at? Will not affect YOUR wages. Will it WILL improve the AUSTRALIAN farmers and wine maker incomes.

This economy would be a ton stronger if we all took the trouble to do that. ❗

Big assumption to make that I don't know about marketing and retail product to be honest.

Can assure you that they won't go out of their way to print their logos over onboard food products and packaging. They're not going to waste money and time on it.

Qantas and Jetstar don't even do it.

Frankly, they don't give a s about it.

To be fair, I don’t think NZ would offer Australian cheese. But then the NZ company that owns the Aussie brand Bega is the same company that owns Mainland…. Fonterra. I’m sure $ has a lot to do with it.

I recall some adverse feedback a few years ago when QF started serving Lurpak butter…

BTW schnitzel looks like a good sized serve.

I was surprised to see the 737 from Perth to Adelaide now only has two rows of business class so now only 8 seats.
Our chicken and rice dinner was not remarkable.

My googling indicates that Bega Cheese is a publicly listed company on the ASX, with Tattarang, an investment company of Andrew and Nicola Forest, being the largest shareholder with 11.44% of the shares. Unlikely that Fonterra owns it or even has a minority interest.

Those who care what country their cheese comes from can always choose to fly Rex. I’m currently in a Rex Lounge and the cheese stocked here comes from Girraween, NSW.

Can't be bothered to get into a further debate on VA cheese offering or the % of Bega that Fronterra own or their equity sale or purchase dates over the last 11 years. However, I do like to check facts and ensure accuracy.... this screen shot is lifted from the Fronterra web site.
